11-06-1980 , , . u o ~, ---- CITY OF EDGEWATER INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD November 6, 1980 CALL TO ORDER Chairman, Sebastian Siciliano, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Edgewater City Hall. ROLL CALL Mr. Siciliano Mr. Brogan Mrs. Mackie Mr. Richardson Mr. Kane Mr. Jones Ms. Massey Mr. Witzig Mr. Duby Present Present Present Excused Present Absent Present Present Present APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Brogan made a motion to approve the minutes and Mr. Kane seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 7-0. COMMUNICATIONS Chairman Siciliano read a letter from City Clerk Nancy Blazi regarding attendance at Board meetings and the expense to the City. He stated the Industrial Board members were very good about attendance and always had a quorum for their meetings. OLD BUSINESS Mr. Siciliano read his letter of appreciation to Jean Brown regarding her resignation from the Board. He requested the Board members submit names for anyone they had in mind so they in turn could be submitted to the Council for a replacement. Mr. Siciliano read his letter of appreciation to the Council on behalf of the members of the Board for the nice dinner at the Elk's Lodge on September 12th. Mr. Siciliano discussed the letter received from Means & McGinnis regarding any industrial sites available in this area. He stated he would like to send inquiries to the various real estate brokers in the area regarding industrial sites, however he feels it would be better to wait until the PID details have been established. The PID was discussed. The Attorney and City Clerk are presently working on contacting abutting property owners, then a map will be published in the paper and a public hearing will be set. It was discussed whether to wait until after the first of the year when the new Council has been established, or to proceed with the recommendation to the Council for the public hearing. Mr. Kane made a motion to recommend to the Council to proceed with the public hearing and set a date before the first of the year. Mr. Witzig seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 7-0. ~ - ~ o ~ u Advertising for new industry for the Edgewater area was again discussed. A brochure from the News-Journal was displayed. Mr. Witzig presented an out-of-state newspaper with advertising rates. He also presented slides of various businesses, churches, houses and recreational features in the area for possible use in a future brochure. Mr. Siciliano requested various magazines be brought again to next months meeting for the Board members that were absent to take a look at. He feels it would be helpful to contact certain businesses by personal letter to their executives to find qualified industry that might be looking for a place to relocate. Ms. Massey suggested working with the Chamber of Commerce at Tallahassee because they receive inquiries for possible industrial sites. NEW BUSINESS Mr. Siciliano presented a sample of the new letterhead for the Industrial Development Board to use for all future correspondence. This new stationery contains the Edgewater seal. BOARD COMMENTS Mr. Kane asked about the FEC and if they had been in contact with the City regarding the kind of industry permitted in the new PID proposed land. He questioned the proposed site abutting property owners and if they had been contacted.
