October 2, 1980
CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairman, Edmond Duby, Jr., called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
in the Edgewater City Hall.

Also present was Mr. Mackie, Chairman of the Zoning Board.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Witzig made a motion to approve the minutes of September 4, 1980
and Mrs. Mackie seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 6-0.
COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Duby read a letter from Jean Brown resigning as a member of the
Industrial Board.
Mrs. Mackie made a motion to accept her resignation and send her:a letter
of appreciation fon her service to the board. Mr. Jones seconded the
motion. The motion CARRIED 6-0.
There was a discussion that a letter be sent to the City Council
with a list of possible new members. Board members should bring these
suggestions to the next Board meeting.
Mr. Duby read a letter from Means & McGinnis inquiring if there are
industrial sites available in the Edgewater area.
There was a discussion regarding the new P.I.D. Ordinance recently
adopted by the City Council and the availability of this area. It
was suggested that we keep the lines of communication open, even though
this is :.not available at this time.
There was a motion made by Mr. Richardson to answer the letter, indicat-
ing that we will have an area available in the near future and inquire
as to what type of clients are interested in this land. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Witzig. The motion CARRIED 7-0.
Mr. Duby presented courtesy applications for the Magic Kingdom Club
cards now available to the Board members. Those interested submitted
completed forms.
OLD BUSINESS
Advertising - Mr. Witzig stated he wrote a letter to the newspaper out
of the area regarding rates, etc., but has had no response.
Mr. Richardson spoke on his visit to the "Committee of 100", part of
the Chamber of Commerce in Daytona Beach, and presented a booklet which
, they distribute to new people coming into the area. The booklet was
published through an advertising agency, however costs for this were
not available. They are doing a survey of commercial magazines to review
how many responses are being received. There is a lot of interest in
existing buildings available in an area.

There was further discussion regarding the type of industry to be
built in the newly planned P.I.D. which would affect our advertising.
Mr. Richardson suggested the Chairman contact the property owners
within the next 60 days as to what kind of industry they are proposing
for this area.
Mr. Mackie, Chairman of the Zoning Board, stated the FEC is planning
to attend a public hearing and submit site plans regarding this area.
A copy of the new P.I.D. Ordinance has already been submitted to the
FEC and they have been in contact with the City Planner.
Mr. Duby presented several electronic, plastic and light industry
magazines for possible consideration as new industry to our area.
It was discussed the members should keep in contact with the surrounding
cities to find out what they are doing in areas of advertising.
Mr. Witzig presented slides of local business, buildings, housing,
churches, recreation facilities, etc. for possible incorporation into
a brochure. He will present more of these slides at future meetings
for the members to review.
Ilex Optical - The letter written to this company regarding an industrial
inquiry was reviewed, however there still hasn't been a response.
Mr. Kane suggested that the Board send the City Council a letter thanking
them for the nice time that was had by everyone at the Advisory Board
Dinner September 12th. The Board members agreed.
ADJOURN
Mr. Jones made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Mr. Kane seconded
the motion. The motion CARRIED and the meeting was adjourned at 10:10 P.M.
