F . E'. C'i PROPOSAL
The Board reviewed a letter to the Zoning Board dated March 28, 1980,
concerning the F.E.C. proposal for zoning.
Mr. Siciliano said that the Zoning Board has already had two workshops
on this and will hold another before their regular meeting on May 6th
at 7:00 P.M. He said that it was so complex that the Board needed some
time to study the proposal, the permitted uses etc.. prior to making a
decision.
Mr. Mackie said that some of the permitted uses may be deleted pertaining
to the railroad for better control.
Mr. Siciliano said that some permitted uses in I-I, 1-2 and 1-3, may
have to be deleted for better control. He stated that we had one inquiry,
which is still in the process, and the only thing he showed him was the
F.E.C. property because he required 30 acres, but if a client came in
tomorrow there would be nothing to offer them if they wanted over 5
acres. He said that he could write a letter to the Zoning Board
requesting a tentative target date be set up for an answer.
Mr. Richardson made a motion to write a letter to the Zoning Board
requesting the status and when do they perceive that a decision will
be made. Mr. Witzig seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 8-0.
PROFILE
Mr. Siciliano said that he has had some requests on prices of utilities
in this area. We compiled the information from the audit report that
was sent to the State for the databank and put it into the Profile of
the Greater Edgewater Area.

Mr. Siciliano went on to say that we should have the Profile booklets
bound and that the County binds them for approximately l~ per page. We
would need about 75 for Board members and citizens.
The Board reviewed the Profile of the Greater Edgewater Area and the
Industrial Revenue Bonding available through Volusia County in Edgewater.
Mrs. Massey felt that these booklets should be dated.
Mr. Siciliano said that any logos would be appreciated or that they
could use the same one that the City used. and said that if the Board
approved that he would go ahead and have 50 or 60 printed up for
distribution.
The Board approved this.
ADVERTISING
Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Massey passed out pictures of various points of
interest in the City.
Mr. Walter Gross asked if the New Smyrna/Edgewater Chamber of Commerce
was cooperating with Edgewater and he felt that someone from the Industrial
Board should attend the meeting or contact them to find out what Industry
is coming into the area.
Mrs. Brown said that she and Mrs. Massey attend all their Industrial Board
meetings, but 'we have nothing to offer industries at this time.
Mrs. Massey said that the Chamber contacted someone within the City Hall.
Mrs. Brown said that Pete Carter was the Chairman of the Industrial Board
in New Smyrna.
Mrs. Brown made a motion to send a letter to the Chamber of Commerce and
the Industrial Board requesting that the contacts they get, that Mr.
I-B Siciliano get a copy of them. Mrs. Mackie seconded the motion.
Mr. Siciliano asked if Mrs. Brown thought sending a letter would do any good?
Mrs. Brown said yes, but until we get the zoning for industries there is not
really much that can be done, we have nothing to offer them at this time.
She also said that she and Mrs. Massey just returned from Dallas, Texas,
and that they have a beautiful Industrial Park just outside of the
Annotol Hotel, which is the largest hotel in Dallas, it was beautiful
and we felt that Edgewater should have something like that.
Mr. Witzig suggested contacting the Chamber and asking for their contacts,
and then if they do not cooperate, then we will have something to beef
about.
Mr. Richardson suggested getting a list of contacts from the Chamber for
the last 6 months and for any future contacts.
Mrs. Brown also suggested getting a list of the Industry that they have
taken in last year and could we provide for them.
Mr. Opal said that the Chairman of the Edgewater Industrial Board should
be put on the New Smyrna Beach Industrial Board.
The motion that Mr. Siciliano write a letter to the New Smyrna Beach/
Edgewater Chamber of Commerce CARRIED 8-0.
Mrs. Massey said that if Mr. Siciliano was on the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater
Industrial Board, that he could get a much better insight for Edgewater.
Mrs. Brown said that her and Mrs. Hassey wore their T-Shirts allover Texas
and it was good advertisement for Edgewater, the shirts said New Smyrna
Beach/Edgewater Chamber of Commerce.

Q

The Board felt that the advertising should be held off until we have
something to offer.
Mr. Richardson felt that until we could get proper zoning to give the
Industrial Board something to work with, we were out in left field.
He went on to say that Bob Williamson, Office for Economic Development,
was the one to contact for information about advertising.
Mr. Siciliano asked the Industrial Board members to be present at the
Zoning Board Workshop at 7:00 P.M. on May 6th.
Mrs. Brown felt that there were people that needed to be enlightned as
to why this zoning should be done to get industry into the City.
2A There was a lengthy discussion concerning the zoning for Industry.
BOARD COMMENTS
Mrs. Mackie asked if Mr. Jones was still on the Board.
Mr. Witzig said that Magnuson Corporation advised him that the population
of Edgewater did not warrant a shopping center.
Mrs. Mackie made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Richardson seconded the motion.
