Opal Mr. Mackie Mayor Christy Dave Castagnacci-News APPROVAL Of MINUT~S Mr. Siciliano asked if the Board approved the minutes of September 13, 1979. Mr. Witzig made a motion to accept the minutes. Mrs. Mackie seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 6-0. Mrs. Brown passed out a copy of a questionnaire form for a skills bank survey. Mr. Siciliano asked if the Board was in agreement with the questionnaire? The Board was in agreement. Mr. Siciliano asked if the City had a bulk mail permit? Mrs. Brown said that mailing out this questionnaire would not be worth the cost of a permit. Mr. Gross spoke about opening up Venezia, he has been trying to get this opened up for a long time so that it would bring more business to Edgewater. .rf.~ I J;3-I'~t-.L ~ ,-J./i-L.~ Walters of the F.E.C.) concerning letter thanking t.1Irr. Gross suggested that the Board write, to the ~y 6.~:t=i.-en to find out how the sale of the property was handled. 1-3 INDUSTRIAL PARK Mr. Siciliano read the letter from Mr. the Industrial Park. He also read the his help in this matter. Mr. Witzig suggested that the Board contact the F.E.C. Mr. Gross made a motion to call the F.E.C. and make an appointment with them to speak about this. Mr. Witzig seconded the motion. Mr. Glaser said he felt that we should either call them or send them a letter. Mr. Siciliano said that he and Mr. Gross would contact them and then follow it up with a letter. Mr. Smith would like to share the cost of advertising this area with the City. There was a discussion on whether or not the City could accept money from individuals to advertise Industrial areas within the City of Edgewater. Mr. Siciliano said that he would check with Mr. Woods about this. He asked if we should call Mr. Smith in at a Special Meeting which will be held on October 11th? The Board agreed to invite Mr, Smith to a Special Meeting on October 11th. COMMUNITY AUDIT Mr. Siciliano said that the Community Audit had been completed and sent to the Data Bank in Tallahassee. A copy of this is on file at City Hall. ADVERTISING Mr. Siciliano asked Mr. Diamond about advertising grants. Mr. Diamond said that he checked about the advertising grant and that the grant is now defunct. He also stated that he was working on the Federal Grant from Farmers Home Administration for Industrial Development for facilities. He also talked to the Economic Development Administration, Federal Government, The average grant that they fund is $30,000.00. Mr Siciliano asked the Board members to come forth with the best way to advertise. He asked if the Board thought they should hold this off until they can talk to Mr, Smith? Mr. Witzig suggested that the Board have examples of different kinds of advertising to show owners of proposed industrial developments. Mr. Glaser asked if there was any way that the Board could get some more information about the cost involved? Mr. Siciliano said we would get more information of different types of I advertising, for example, personal advertising, such as letters or a brochure. He suggested that the Board have a workshop for the purpose of discussing only advertising, BOARD COMMENTS Mr. Gross made a motion that the Board write the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Chamber of Commerce and the New Smyrna Beach Commission and ask why they sit idly by when they could encourage the development of New Smyrna Beach by having at least 30 to 50 million dollar luxury construction to provide an increase in the tax base and employment.
