Mr. Siciliano said that the extension date of recelvlng a grant for
advertising purposes has been extended to June 30, 1979. He has
called this special meeting for the purpose of discussing whether or
not the Board feels that we could have material prepared in time to
meet this deadline. He would like the Board members to come up with
ideas for the possible use of this money, if we should get the grant.
The Board will hold its regular meeting next week which should give
everyone some time to come up with ideas on how they might use this
money for advertising purposes. He also informed the Board that there
would be a meeting on May 15, 1979 with the Planning Board, Council,
Zoning Board and the Industrial Board. This will be a workshop to
discuss the Comprehensive Plan. He also called attention to the
Flow Charts that he had prepared for the Board. This chart would
divide up various responsibilities and categories for the individual
members to study and learn about so that they would be able
to have complete information on a certain subject such as utilities.
If these categories are divided equally then each member could become
an expert in a particular area and be able to give information to
prospective industrial developers. He would like the members to study
the chart and decide by the next meeting which of these categories
they would like to be involved in.
Mr. Brown asked about combining efforts with New Smyrna Beach Chamber
of Commerce for advertising that would cover Southeast Volusia County.
Mr. Gross said that he did not think we should get tied in with New
Smyrna Beach. We should do this on our own.
Mr. Witzig said that he did not agree with spending this money right away.
He would like to find out more about what New Smyrna Beach plans to do.
Mr. Gross spoke about getting Mr. Dodd ,who is the industrial representative
for New Smyrna Beach, and Mrs. Baker who is associated with the State
Employment Agency, to meet with the Edgewater Board. He thinks they
could give the Board some valuable information. He also added that we
shou~d find out just~h~~ ~ype of.advertisi~g we can do with this grant.

Q
Mr. Glaser asked if the City had the money to match the grant?
Mr. Siciliano said that he had been told the money could be found.
However, the City would have to put up $3,000. half of which would
be reimbursed by the grant after the City has shown how this money
was expended.
Councilman Rotundo said that the Council would have to authorize
matching this grant.
Mr. Brown made a motion that the Board send a letter to the Council
requesting written confirmation that the money would be available
if the Board wanted to accept the grant. Mrs. Mackie seconded the
motion. The motion CARRIED 10-0.
It was announced that there would be a series of seminars on Industrial
Development sponsored by DBCC and New Smyrna Beach - Edgewater Chamber
of Commerce. These seminars would begin May 21, 1979 and be held for
the next 4 or 5 consecutive Monday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. in
the Security 1st Federal Building.
Mr. Siciliano said that he hoped all Board members could attend these
lectures. They could be more informative. He added that he had also
sent out some letters to various government agencies requesting any
assistance they might give to the Board to help them establish a program
for industrial development in the Edgewater area.
The Board briefly discussed what Edgewater would have to offer prospective
industrial developers. At this time, the City has land zoned industrially
but owned privately. It will have to be determined how much of this
land might be available and what recommendations should be made to the
Council to help attract industry to these areas.
Mr. Brown made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Kane seconded the
motion. The meeting .was adjourned.
