RESOLUTION NO. 97 -R -25 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ELECTION HELD SEPTEMBER 30, 1997; DECLARING THE CITY COUNCILMEMBERS FOR THE TERM BEGINNING OCTOBER 6, 1997; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. A City Council election was held on September 30, 1997. 2. All votes have been tabulated and confirmed. 3. It is necessary for the City Council to declare the results of the election and the Councilmembers for the two year term of office beginning October 6, 1997. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. September 30, 1997 -5:30 P.M. Canvassing Board called to order Present: Susan J. Wadsworth, City Clerk, Robin Wolf, Legal Department Proof of Publication for the Notice Testing of Tabulations Equipment, Notice Canvassing of Absentee Elector's Ballot and Notice of Municipal Election were presented to the Board for verification by Deanie Lowe, Supervisor of Elections. (Copies of proofs attached) Robin Wolf witnessed Logic & Accuracy Test and running of zero total tapes. The canvassing board went over the procedures and policy for determining validity of the absentee ballots . The board decided the policy for handling multiple ballots. The option chose was to accept none, since it cannot be determined which one was voted by the voter who signed the certification on the return envelope. Susan Wadsworth, City Clerk, announced that all absentee ballot vote signatures had been checked and verified with the signatures on file with the Supervisor of Elections . Susan Wadsworh, City Clerk reported that 219 Ballots had been issued. (City issued 215 and County issued 4) Absentee ballots were checked by the Canvassing Board members for voters signatures and witnesses signatures and addresses. 198 ballots were returned. 2 ballots were returned due to forwarding time expiring. 2 ballots were returned due to voters going to polls instead. 194 ballots were accepted 0 ballot rejected for missing witness signature and address Ballots were prepared for counting. (Report attached) After 7:00 p.m. the machine count against the number of absentee ballots was verified and witnessed by Robin Wolf . Absentee ballots were presented to the Volusia County Election Department for counting and tabulation. 3 poll ballots were received and presented to the Canvassing Board for duplication. Canvassing Board voted to duplicate all 3 ballots.(1 mismarked, 1 overvote, 1 not read). Duplicated ballots were given to election workers for counting. Report of votes cast in the General Election were presented to Canvassing Board. Canvassing Board determined to accept report as unofficial results . Adjoum at 8:46 pm 01N \ ..
