OLD BUSINESS
Playground Equipment at Hawks Park
*r. Mr. Corder presented the Board members with pictures and layout of the two playground
systems under consideration. The first was from Play World and was comparable to all
the playground systems we now have in our parks, and it included rubberized mulch for
the base of the system. The second was from Landscape Structures, a newer, more
modern concept that is more exercise motivated and included a rubber base with artificial
grass under the system. He said Lake Mary has this more modern system in one of their
parks and they are getting rave reviews from the citizens. Mr. Fishback asked about the
funds to pay for this and Mr. Corder replied this is grant money from the Community
Development Block Grant, and this playground equipment will be well used in this
location by the YMCA and will benefit the summer recreation program as well. Mr.
Fishback asked how long it will take to complete this project and Mr. Corder said he
hoped it to be done sometime in June. The Board discussed both systems in length and
upon completion, Mr. Visconti made a motion to proceed with Landscape Structures, the
modern, innovative system with the artificial grass at approximately $87,000. Mrs.
Sopko seconded the motion and it CARRIED 4 -0.
Amphitheater Roof Update
Mr. Fishback inquired on the status of the amphitheater roof. Mr. Corder replied he has
one company with a design he doesn't like, one company that is over cost by about
$50,000. and another company he is waiting to hear back from that features a metal roof.
He stated he will keep the Board informed on this project.
