01-06-2010CITY OF EDGEWATER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD REGULAR MEETING Minutes January 6, 2010 8:00 a.m. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Robert Lott called to order the regular meeting of the Economic Development Board at 8:06 a.m., Wednesday, December 02, 2009, in the Community Center. ROLL CALL: Chairman Robert Lott Present Oscar Zeller Absent Tim Howard Present Marcia Barnett Present Bliss Jamison Present Bob Williams Present Jennifer Butera Present Chris Balmer Present Bill Wetherell Present Also present were City Manager Tracey Barlow, Volusia County Councilman Jack Hayman, Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Steve Dennis and board coordinator Pat Drosten. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes from the Regular Meeting of December 02, 2009 were presented for approval. ICI I '• I �t CITY AND OTHER REPORTS City Manager Update Mr. Barlow updated the board on several new commercial projects under review. He also briefed the board on the CEDS committee, Restoration project, and a number of city projects including an addition of water supply wells, storage tank and pump and a WiFi access hotspot at and around City Hall. Mr. Barlow also announced that there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the renovated City Hall and Kennedy Park projects on February 24 at 10:00 am. Planning and Zoning Board Update No report SEVCC Update Mr. Dennis stated that the Chamber is focusing on how they can assist local small businesses. Chairman Lott stated that it is important that he and the rest of the Board make a strong effort to visit local businesses in the next month. NEW BUSINESS Truck route connecting ParkTowne and I -95 Councilman Hayman was introduced and reported on the County's position and actions regarding the Rails to Trails program. He indicated that the County was willing to work with the City on creation of a truck route connecting ParkTowne and I -95, but that no alteration of the Rails to Trails route would be considered. There was much discussion regarding possible creations of CRA districts as well as a joint committee to between the City of Edgewater, the City of New Smyrna Beach and Volusia County to encourage development and redevelopment. Discussions also included the possibility of a train depot located in New Smyrna Beach, near the 10 Street RR line and ways to enhance the visibility of and access to ParkTowne Industrial Center.
