CALL TO ORDER
Mr. McGinnis opened the Ad Hoc Promotional Activity Committee meeting at 8:35 a.m.,
Wednesday, April 10, 2003, in the City Hall Conference Room.
ROLL CALL
Members present were Douglas McGinnis, Adelaide Carter, Nora Aly, Tom Hamall,
Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Steve Dennis and Board
Coordinator Pat Drosten.
COMMITTEE BUSINESS:
Ms Aly handed out a short questionnaire and the flyer for the 2001 Business to Business
expo. Mr. McGinnis stated the committee needed to determine if there was sufficient
time to put together a Business -to- Business expo to coincide with the ParkTowne
Industrial Center Ribbon Cutting ceremony to be held June 6, 2003.
The general consensus of the committee was that there was not enough time to put on a
quality expo. There was much discussion on alternatives to take advantage of the
ParkTowne opening. Mr. Dennis suggested a reception Businesses in Edgewater. He also
suggested a variation of Mr. Hammall's idea of "Celebrating Edgewater Businesses" and
naming it "Celebrating Business in Edgewater" and encouraging participation from
companies that do business in the city but do not necessarily have their businesses located
within the city limits.
The committee decided to present to the Economic Development Board a proposal to
hold a "kick -off' reception for local business prior to the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for
Parktowne.
Much discussion ensued as to how to fund this and how much money would be needed.
Also discussed was marketing strategy for the event. Mr. McGinnis stated he would put
some numbers together to make a presentation to the Board at the Special Meeting
scheduled for April 17, 2003.
Mr. Dennis stated that the SE Volusia Chamber would donate $200 as an "Event
Sponsor ".

The committee discussed the possibility of a Business -to- Business expo in February 2004
Mr. Dennis stated that inviting such businesses as the One Stop Career Center, Daytona
Beach International Airport, the Work Force Development Board, and other such
agencies would add credibility to the expo and would draw more local participation.
Other items addressed as possible promotional activities were: trade show ambassadors,
recognition of outstanding businesses and an Editorial Board meeting with the local
media editors and staff writers.
These ideas will be documented for presentation at the Special Meeting of the Board on
April 17, 2003.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the committee the meeting adjourned at 9:36
