01-05-2007EDGEWATER POLICE PENSION BOARD SPECIAL MEETING January 5, 2007 City Hall Conference Room Minutes CALL TO ORDER Chairman Conroy called The Police Pension Board Special Meeting to order on Friday January 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. ROLL CALL Secretary Blazi conducted the Roll Call for the Police Pension Board Special Meeting. Members present were Chairman Conroy, Daniel Blazi, Ferdinand Heeb, and Lawrence Leaf. A quorum was established. Also present was Personnel Director Donna Looney, and Gary McElroy. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was no review or approval of minutes for this meeting. NEW BUSINESS Disability Retirement of Gary McElroy The Pension Board reviewed all available information in reference to Gary McElroy's disability retirement request. Gary McElroy had suffered from a heart attack while on duty. The documentation showed that Gary McElroy was presently at maximum medical improvement, and could no longer perform the duties of a Sworn Law Enforcement Officer. His attending Cardiologist Dr. Taher Kahlil, and an independent examination by Cardiologist Dr. Michael Nocero Jr resulted in this diagnosis. It was found that these records had been forwarded to attorney Ken Harrison with negative results, and no answer back from Harrison. The special meeting had been called due to fact that Gary McElroy's employment with the City of Edgewater had officially been ended. All forwarded correspondence was incorporated into the minutes for review. MOTION Dan Blazi made a motion to approve Gary McElroy's Disability Retirement. Lawrence Leaf seconded this. Motion carried unanimously ADJOURNMENT: With no further business to discuss, Chairman Conroy called for a motion to adjourn. MOTION Dan Blazi made a motion to adjourn.
