CITY OF EDGEWATER SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 9, 1994 Mayor Hayman called the Special meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Center to certify the results of the General election held November 8, 1994. ROLL CALL Mayor Jack Hayman Councilman Kirk Jones Councilwoman Louise Martin Councilman Michael Hays Councilman David Mitchum city Attorney Krista Storey City Manager George McMahon city Clerk Susan Wadsworth Police Chief Lawrence Schumaker Present Excused Present Present Present Present Present Present Present CERTIFYING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 8, 1994- READING OF RESOLUTION 94-R-28 Mayor Hayman read Resolution 94-R-28, certifying the results of the General election held November 8, 1994. Councilwoman Martin made a motion to adopt Resolution 94-R-28, seconded by Councilman Hays, upon roll call motion CARRIED 4-0. Mayor Hayman introduced the new City Council and welcomed Mr. Hatfield to the Council OUTGOING COUNCIL COMMENTS Mayor Hayman explained that there was no outgoing council comments, he explained that Mr. Jones gave his comments the other night. ADMINISTERING OF OATHS TO INCOMING COUNCIL MEMBERS Ci ty Clerk Susan J. Wadsworth administered the oaths to the incoming city Council members. INCOMING COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilman Hatfield thanked his successor Kirk Jones for the fine job he did as Councilman. He expressed that he is ready to get started. Councilwoman Martin stated that she was glad to be back. She read a prepared statement. She thanked the people that voted for her and backed her. Councilman Hays stated that he looked forward to working with Councilman Hatfield and the rest of the Council. He went on thanking and recognizing his family members for putting up with all the telephone calls and all those comments and things family members of a Councilmember have to put up with. Councilman Mitchum congratulated the Mayor and Councilwoman Martin on being back with the Council. He thanked Kirk Jones for his devotion and hard work the past two years. He also welcomed back Mr. Hatfield and thanked the Council and staff for the past two years of hard work. He expressed his thanks to his family members and all the citizens of Edgewater. He feels the Council conducts business as it should and for the needs of Edgewater. '-" ...", Mayor Hayman thanked God, his family and friends for their support. He expressed a special thanks to Mr. Jack Loveless for his help support and work. He went on to thank his colleagues on the Council and Vice Mayor Jones for their help and support in the past two years. He also expressed that he is looking forward to working with Councilman Hatfield. He commented on recent verbal attacks on the Council and staff and the way he plans to handle the situation in the future. He concluded by saying he looks forward in serving his community for the next two years and making improvements in our Community. City Manager commented that he has worked in many communities and he does not understand the violence that goes on in some peoples minds in our Community. He regrets and resents the few that will deliberately go to state and National officials with lies and continue to pursue that line of thinking as they have for the past three years. He complemented the City Council in saying that he has worked with many Councils and feels that this one has the highest integrity of any Council he has ever worked with. He is looking forward to working with the Council in the next few years. No comments or questions from the press. Dominick Fazzone- 302 Paradise Lane, congratulated the Council on the election and on their integrity and understanding of the public. He went on to comment on the citizens being able to talk at Council meetings at two different times. He expressed that we have an excellent city and staff. Councilman Hays made a motion to adjourn.
