COMMUNITY CENTER MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hayman called the Special Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Center. ROLL CALL Mayor Jack Hayman Councilman Danny Hatfield Councilwoman Louise Martin Councilman Michael Hays Councilman David Mitchum City Attorney Krista Storey City Manager George McMahon Cit~ Clerk Susan Wadsworth Pollce Chief Lawrence Schumaker Present Present Present Present Present Excused Present Present Present MEETING PURPOSE Mayor Hayman explained the purpose of the meeting is to authorize the Mayor or Vice Mayor to execute the agreements for State required workers compensation and continuation of the City's health insurance (administrative requirement). City Manager McMahon explained they have been going back and forth between GRIT and Florida League of cities. Both are the largest qualified workers compensation underwriters in the state. The latest quote from the FLOC is $1,000 below GRIT. He went on to point out the cost savings. City Manager McMahon informed Council representatives were available from GRIT and FLOC. City Manager McMahon recommended going with the lowest quote in the amount of $176,773.00 from the FLOC. Finance Director Fred Munoz stated the initial quote from the FLOC was $210,444.00. The final quote was $176,773.00. A difference of $33,671.00. Councilman Mitchum made a motion to accept the proposal from FLOC and to authorize the Mayor or Vice Mayor to exercise the options in signing the necessary papers, second by Councilwoman Martin. The motion CARRIED 5-0. Mayor Hayman stated the next item is the agreement for worker's compensation and health insurance. City Manager McMahon explained the health insurance is the same coverage we now have but there is a change from Mass Mutual to Unicare. They call for acceptance of the due policies and authorization to sign that. Councilman Mitchum questioned them already accepting this. City Manager McMahon explained he thought Council was accepting the quote for worker's compensation. Councilman Mitchum stated he moved to accept them.
