MINUTES
ROLL CALL /CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Tipton called the meeting to order. Members present were Tom Tipton, Joe Fishback and Debra
Sopko. Also present was Jack Corder, Director of Leisure Services. Board members Mike Visconti and
Walt Zakaluzny were excused.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Fishback made a Motion to approve the Minutes of the February 18,2010 meeting and Mrs. Sopko
seconded. Motion CARRIED 3 -0.
OLD BUSINESS
Update on Amphitheater Roof
Mr. Corder said there has been a delay due to the final design did not meet the wind load
requirements. He says a change order is being done and will be taken then to Council. He said the new
design will be a roll up version made of canvas. We will be able to attach lights and speakers to it and it
can be taken down for storage when not in use. Mr. Fishback asked for the estimated time to complete,
and Mr. Corder said by the end of August.
NEW BUSINESS
Department Update
Mr. Corder stated the city was working on some upcoming events with other sponsors. One will be a
concert featuring Tracy Lawrence and Uncle Kracker at the Edgewater Ranch. Some of the proceeds will
go to help the Animal Shelter and other organizations.
The second event will be a Kayak Expo at Menard Park on Oct 16 -17` It will feature a kayak race, fish
tournament, kayak vendors, and food, etc.
A third possible event will be a sand sculpture demonstration in Hawks Park, compliments of the
"Sultans of Sand ", a world wide sand sculpture service. The owner and sand artist is a resident of
Edgewater and he has erected sculptures for over 33 countries world wide . His structures range from
small to massive and his work can be seen on the website — sultansofsand.com.
Mr. Zakaluzny, though absent, left a report for Mr. Corder to update the board on all the recreation
events now going on for the kids, which included Legion Ball now in progress, 2 Little League teams 10-
11 and 13 -14 playing in the All Stars, and the YMCA now working on a baseball program also.

Mr. Corder stated the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce will now be operating a small office out
of the Leisure Services building, to better help with information for Edgewater.
Beautification Award
The Board reviewed their nominations for the newly reinstated Beautification Award for the city and the
vote was 3 -1 for 200 N. Riverside Drive. The winners will be notified and given a certificate from the city
and a beautification sign to place in their yard. The next award will be given in October for zone 2,
which is any residence or business south of Indian River Boulevard.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mr. Fishback moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Sopko. Motion
CARRIED 3 -0.
