NEW BUSINESS
Term Expiration of Jaimie Young
Jaimie Young's term expired and she signed a memo expressing her desire to be re- appointed
to the Animal Control Board for another term, to which the entire Board agreed.
Review and Discussion of County Spay /Neuter Ordinance
The Board was given a copy of a revision of the Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances to include
the County's spay /neuter ordinance. Mr. Dail stated that it is essentially a copy from the County
to the City and he would personally like to see the age requirement for spay /neuter be 4 months
for cats and 6 months for dogs, rather than the 4 month across the board age for both. Dr.
Vanis said animals don't come in to heat until 6 months of age and historically, animal shelters
and veterinarians wait until 6 months.
The Board discussed this at length and Chairwoman Wagner made a MOTION to change any age
requirement of the spay /neuter to 6 months across the board, rather than 4 months. Karen
Mason seconded the MOTION and it carried 5 -0. Chairwoman Wagner asked if the board had
any other changes they would like to see and there were none.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
