MINUTES
ROLL CALL /CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Tipton called the meeting to order. Members present were, Debra Sopko, Tom Tipton, and Joe
Fishback. Walt Zakaluzny and Mike Visconti were absent. Jack Corder was absent, due to a previously
scheduled meeting. Also present was Barb Kowall, Secretary to the Board.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Fishback made a Motion to approve the minutes of the July 14, 2011 meeting and Mrs. Sopko
seconded. Motion CARRIED 3 -0.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Tipton stated the building located behind the office is still being worked on to add restrooms,
concession stand and a small office. The restrooms and concession can be utilized for events held at the
amphitheater. Mr. Fishback asked if there were any proposed plans for the amphitheater, perhaps with
the High School and Mr. Tipton said he wasn't aware of any at the moment. He did say the Fire Dept.
will be starting up their movies in the park again now that the weather was cooling off.
NEW BUSINESS
Department Update
The Board discussed the plans for the upcoming Fall Festival and Haunted Forest and Trunk or Treat,
being put on by the Police Dept., YMCA, Leisure Services and other local sponsors and businesses. This
event will be October 29 at the YMCA and will be free to the kids. The only admission is to bring a non-
perishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry. The time for this event will be 7 pm to 10
pm. This event was started last year for the first time and was a huge success with the community. It
is expected to be even bigger and better this year with an attendance around two to three thousand
expected.
Also, Mr. Tipton said was the upcoming Christmas Parade on December 10 at 10 am. The parade will
follow the usual route down the Boulevard and end at the Winn Dixie Plaza. Invitations have already
been mailed out the secretary stated and the usual 70 to 80 entries are expected for the 21 annual
parade.
Zone 1 Beautification Award
Nominations for the Zone 1 Beautification Award were reviewed and the winners were John and Bettie
Grundy of 1522 S. Riverside Drive. The next award will be given in January to a business or residence in
Zone 2, (south of Indian River Blvd.)

There being no further business, Mr. Fishback made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Sopko.
