A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING CONGRESSMAN
JOHN MICA'S PROPOSAL TO PROVIDE COMMUTER
RAIL SERVICE IN THIS AREA; ENCOURAGING ALL
FLORIDA REPRESENTATIVES TO SUPPORT THIS
INITIATIVE; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
FORWARD COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
APPROPRIATE PARTIES; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the -City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has made the following
determinations:
WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater is located within a premier tourist attraction area in
Volusia County, Florida; and
and
WHEREAS, the City has a number of businesses which benefit from visitors to the area;
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of developing cost-effective transportation
solutions as an alternative to the widening of I-4; and
WHEREAS, the City supports a long -tens solution to transportation needs in Central
Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City believes commuter rail service to Volusia County will enhance both
balanced and planned economic growth.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida:
Section 1. City Council supports Congressman John L. Mica's proposal to provide
commuter rail service in Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties.
Section 2. City Council encourages all Florida Representatives to support this initiative.

Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to all
otlier municipalities in Volusia County, the Volusia County Council, the Volusia County
Metropolitan Planning Organization, Senator Graham and Senator Mack.
Section4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are
hereby repealed.
Section 5. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
