92-R-20`br RESOLUTION NO. 92 -R -20 *"W A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD OCTOBER 1, 1992; DECLARING THE CANDIDATES FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION FOR CITY COUNCIL TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 1992; SETTING FORTH THE REFERENDUM QUESTION REGARDING THE AD VALOREM TAX EXEMPTION; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION WORKERS FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION BY THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. A primary election was held on October 1, 1992, for the purpose of determining the City Council candidates for the office of Mayor and District 4 for the November 3, 1992 general election. 2. All votes have been tabulated and confirmed. 3. It is necessary for the City Council to forward to the Supervisor of Elections a list of City Council candidates for the November 3, 1992 general election. 4. Pursuant to Section 196.1995, Florida Statutes, it is necessary for the City Council to set forth the referendum question regarding the ad valorem tax exemption to be placed on the November 3, 1992 general election ballot. 5. It is necessary for the City Council to provide for the appointment of election workers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. The candidates in the October 1, 1992 primary election received the number of votes as set forth below: MAYOR NoraJane Gillespie Jack H. Hayman, Sr. Peter Hellsten Francis D. Martin George A. Naill DISTRICT 3 Michael Billick Mike Hays DISTRICT 4 Tom Hager David L. Mitchum Section 3. Pursuant to Section 196.1995, Florida Statutes, the following referendum question shall appear on the November 3, 1992 general election ballot: Shall the City Council of the City of Edgewater be authorized to grant, pursuant to Section 3, Article VII of the State Constitution, property tax exemptions to new businesses and expansions of existing businesses? Yes - For authority to grant exemptions. No - Against authority to grant exemptions. 92 -R -20 2 Section 4. The election workers for the November 3, 1992 general election shall be appointed by the Supervisor of Elections for Volusia County, Florida. Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and same are hereby repealed. Section 6. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
