RESOLUTION NO. 93-R-13
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND ADOPTING
THE MAY 1993 DISASTER PREPARATION, RESPONSE,
AND RECOVERY PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER IN THE FUTURE TO MAKE SUCH
ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES AS ARE NECESSARY TO
MAINTAIN THE VIABILITY OF THE PLAN; REPEALING
RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, as a typical Florida coastal community, the City of
Edgewater is at risk of disaster due to the natural phenomenon of
flooding, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater is also at risk of a
technologically based disaster due to its proximity to the
following major routes of commerce:
the Intercoastal Waterway,
U.S. #1, F.E.C. Railway, S.R. 442, and 1-95; and
WHEREAS, the City also has a history of large forest fires;
and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide guidance and instruction
to City officials and emergency response agencies and organizations
in the implementation of those critical activities needed to direct
and coordinate the community's reaction to a disaster.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Edgewater:
Section 1.
That the May 1993 Disaster Preparation,
Response, and Recovery Plan, attached hereto and incorporated by
reference, is hereby approved and adopted.
Section 2.
The City Manager is hereby authorized in the
future to make such administrative changes to the Plan as are
necessary to maintain the viability of the document.
Section 3.
All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 4.
This resolution shall take effect upon its
adoption.
After Motion by Councilwoman Martin and Second by Councilman
Hays, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
