RESOLUTION NO. 93-R-02
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
92-R-09 TO PROVIDE THAT THE 25% ABSENCE
REQUIREMENT SHALL NOT APPLY TO BOARDS,
COMMITTEES OR AGENCIES WHICH MEET LESS THAN
FIVE TIMES DURING A CALENDAR YEAR; REPEALING
RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, has made
the following determinations:
1. On May 18, 1992, the City Council adopted Resolution No.
92-R-09 establishing attendance requirements for City boards,
committees, and agencies.
2. Resolution No. 92-R-09 provides that if a member of any
City board, committee, of agency is absent for three (3)
consecutive regular meetings or is absent for twenty-five (25)
percent or more of all meetings held during any calendar year, said
member shall forfeit the office and it shall be deemed vacant.
3. Pursuant to the Library Board By-Laws, the Board shall
hold at least three (3) regular meetings a year. On the average,
the Library Board meets four times during a year. Application of
the twenty-five percent rule to the Library Board or other boards,
committees or agencies meeting less than five times during the year
would result in forfeiture of office for any member who misses even
a single meeting during the year.
4. It is in the best interests of the citizens of Edgewater
that the twenty-five percent rule not apply to boards, committees
or agencies who meet less than five (5) times during a calendar
year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Edgewater:
Section 1.
Section 1 of Resolution No. 92-R-09 is amended
to read as follows:
If a member of any City board, committee, or
agency is absent for three (3) consecutive
regular meetings or is absent for twenty-five
(25) percent or more of all meetings held
during any calendar year, said member shall
forfeit the office and it shall be deemed
vacant. The twenty-five percent requirement

shall not apply to any board, committee, or
agency which meets less than five (5) times
during a calendar year.
Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect upon its
adoption.
After Motion by Councilwoman Martin and Second by Councilman
Hays, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
