A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, CREATING THE VETERANS PARR
ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ADVISING THE COUNCIL REGARDING VETERANS
ACTIVITIES AT VETERANS PARK; PROVIDING FOR
THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE; ESTABLISHING
TERMS FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR
THE SELECTION OF A CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN;
ESTABLISHING A QUORUM FOR THE COMMITTEE;
PROVIDING THAT ALL REQUESTS FOR VETERANS
ACTIVITIES AT VETERANS PARR BE SUBMITTED TO THE
COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW; PROVIDING FOR THE
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS;
REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
has determined that it is in the best interest of the citizens of
Edgewater that an committee be created to advise the City Council
regarding veterans activities at Veterans Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City
of Edgewater, Florida:
Section 1. Purpose. There is hereby created the Veterans
Park Advisory Committee for the purpose of advising the City
Council regarding veterans activities at Veterans Park.
Section 2. Membership. The Veterans Park Advisory Committee
shall be composed of five members appointed by the City Council.
A member of the City Council shall serve on the Committee as well
as the Director of Parks and Recreation. One member of the
Committee shall be a representative of Disabled American Veterans
Chapter 145 and one member shall be a representative of American
Legion Post 285. The fifth member of the Committee shall be a
representative of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4432.
Section 3. Terms. The Director of Parks and Recreation shall
be a permanent member of the Committee. The member of the City
Council serving on the Committee shall serve a term of one year and
may be reappointed for additional one year terms at the discretion
of the City Council. The other three members of the Committee
shall serve for a term of three years; however in order to provide
for continuity on the Committee the initial terms of two of the
members shall be for less than three years. Therefore, the initial
term of the representative of Disabled American Veterans Chapter
145 shall be for one year and the initial term for the
representative of American Legion Post 285 shall be for two years.
Thereafter, all terms of these members shall be for three years.
Any member may be appointed for additional terms at the discretion
of the City Council.
Section 4. Selection of Chairman and Vice Chairman. The
Committee shall select a Chairman and a Vice Chairman to serve in
the absence of the Chairman. The Chairman and Vice Chairman shall
serve for a term of one year, but may be reappointed in the
discretion of the Committee.
Section 5. Ouorum. A quorum shall consist of three members
of the Committee and any action of the Committee must be approved
by a majority of those present.
Section 6. Submittal of Veterans Activities Requests. All
requests for veterans activities at Veterans Park shall be
submitted to the Veterans Park Advisory Committee for review.
Requests shall be filed with th8 Director of Parks and Recreation
who will provide a copy of the request to all Committee members and
schedule a meeting of the Committee as soon as possible after the
request has been made. The Committee shall consider the request
and make a recommendation to the City Council regarding the
proposed activities.
Section 7. Meetings. The Committee shall meet on an as
needed basis to review any requests for veterans activities at
Veterans Park.
Section S. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and same are hereby repealed.
Section 9. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
at a Regular meeting of said Council held on the 7
day of December , 1991, and approved as provided by law.
