CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. McIntosh called to order the regular meeting of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
Committee (CEDS) at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Daytona State College, Edgewater/New
Smyrna Campus, Building 1, Room 123.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
MOTION by Mr. Barlow, SECOND by Mr. Wehterell to approve the Regular Meetinji of December 15,
2009 minutes as presented:

DISCUSSION OF THE COMPETITIVE ECONOMIC STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF
THE CITY OF EDGEWATER FOR ATTRACTING, GROWING, AND SUSTAINING JOB-
GENERATING AND TAX REVENUE-PRODUCING BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY:
Target Industries. Mr. Creveling gave a recap of possible target industries discussed at the last meeting.
The committee brought up some additional industries to be considered, including simulation technology,
manufacturers of microhousing, a broad range of river-related businesses and a fitting occupant for the
Insl-X/Coronado Paint properties—perhaps a chemical or biotech company.

Infrastructure requirements. The committee discussed infrastructure barriers to successful recruitment
of the listed target industries. The following were noted:
Wireless broadband access
Expansion of Park Ave to give better access to I-95
Intersection improvement at Mission Rd and Park Ave
Access to Daytona State College Campus from ParkTowne Industrial Center
Median cuts on U.S. Hwy 1 to allow easier access
Also discussed were issues regarding the marketing of Massey Air Park and ParkTowne Industrial Center.
PROJECT SCHEDULE: Review of Schedule, Milestones, and Next Steps.
The next meeting will be held on January 19th at 8:30 in the City Hall conference room. The discussion
regarding infrastructure requirements will be continued.

The meeting adjourned at 10:05 a.m. At that time, Mr. Job Clement, Faculty Provost — New Smyrna-
Edgewater Campus offered the committee members a tour of the campus.
