REPORT OF MAYOR
TO THE HONORABLE
TOWN COUNCIL,OF DGEWATER:
I am giving you herewith full and complete
report of work done under my supervision since my last
report to your body.
Shelling Strand Boulevard, Park Avenue,
Hamilton Drive; grading, cleaning and removing rubbish
from same streets , which work was done under my personal
supervision at an approximate cost of $167.00.
Approximately three miles of streets and roads
were covered with the work outlined in the foregoing.
At the present time, all of the streets and
roads are in fair condition as a result of this work, with
the exception of Hamilton Drive. Hamilton Drive is not in
good condition, and it will require a great amount of shelling
to get a foundation for surface, in order that it might be
scraped, graded and put in good condition. The present
traffic moving over this road is entirely too heavy for
the thin shell surface of the street. At the junction of
this street with the Strand, where both join the new bridge ,
such shell as we have placed from time to time is continually
being rolled into hills on account of all traffic curving at
the point of leaving or going on to the bridge. It is not
thought that shell will remove this trouble of banking, which
also leaves portions of the bridge structure exposed to severe
wear.
All bills for this work were paid from my personal
funds at the end of each week, and receipted bills and payrolls
covering the same are in the hands of the Clerk. Your body
has already reimbursed me to the extent of $97.00, leaving a
net payroll outstanding of $70.00, for which I respectfully ask
that a warrant be drawn to cover. A bill for gasoline and oils,
and for two tools arenalso in the hands of the Clerk, and I ask
reimbursement for these items also , as per bills.
I would recommend that your body consider th*e
advisability of instituting and maintaining a system of
periodical inventory of all Town tools and equipment on hand,
and where such equipment is located, so that such tools, etc. ,
as we have purchased may be taken care of. This in view of the
fact that we have, at present, no place to store our supplies
or equipment such as hoes, shovels, axes, etc.
Respectfully submitted,
H. E. Zipperer, Mayor.
