REPORTS ON OFFICERS :
jisca.l report for month of March was
read by clerk, and accepted upon motion of Mr. Spicer
seconded by Mr. Smith.

REPORTS OF C0MTITTEES:
Mr. Spicer reported on jail matter,
clerk advising that nothing satisfactory had yet been
heard from the various boards of county commissioners.
Mr. Spicer was continued on the
committee, with power to interview owners of jail cages
with a view of dbtai ring one for our use.
Mr. Smith reported that the cleaning
of the Canal from Park Avenue to the sabardy Canal had
been completed, and Mayor Zipperer advised that water
was flowing as freely as could be expected .
U'TFIHISHED BUSINESS:
Clerk read communication from Mr. S. D.
Jordan, Clerk of Circuit Court, stating that a separate
voting precinct for Edgewater would be established by the
County Commissioners before the General .election in November.
Clerk read communication from Mr. J. J.
Bigelow, referring further to the matter of tax assessments
in Highland Shores Subdivision, and complaining that the
previous assessments were unfair and that he had been
discriminated against . This matter was discussed freely , and
it was pointed out that the previous apsessments were made
after W. J. Bigelow had sold the property in question, which
made the charge of discrimination absurd on the face of it .
It was also brought out many complaints had been entered

regarding the assessment for 1927 , that assessments were t o
high. After discussion, it was agreed that these matters
should have attention, and upon motion of Mr. smith, seconded
by Mr. DeWitte , the clerk was requested to reply to Mr .
Bigelow, stating that at the proper time the matter would
again come before the Council when it sits as a board of
equalization on 1928 valuations, and would be given careful
attention.
ITEtt BUSINESS:
lir. Spicer spoke of erecting an additional
street light at the corner of Park Place and Palm Way. Clerk
stated that appropriation for $600 had been made for this work,
a balance of 0 remaining in the fund. After discussion it
was agreed to utilize this balance in installing two additional
lights, one at the foot of Park Avenue, on the river front , and
one at the location suggested byYr. Spicer . The Clerk was
requested to handle with the Citynof New Smyrna, and conclude
the arrangements, it being understand the lights would be
installed upon the same basis as those already in operation.
Mr. Spicer also spoke of the advisability
of procuring a dump truck for handling shell, road building
materi al, and other s imiliar work . It was brought out that
this work has in the past been done by rental of the necessary
equipment . Upon motion of Mr. Spicer, seconded by Mr. De'ilitte ,
the Clerk was requested to insert a want ad in the Miami Herald
asking for prices on used trucks.
There being no further business , upon motion
of Mr. Spicer, seconded bynMr. DeWi t te, the meeting was adjourned .
