MINUTES :
Minutes of regular meeting held July 27th,
were read and upon motion by Mr.Spicer seconded by
Mr.Lohaan, were approved as read.
Minutes of called meeting held August 17th,
were read and on motion by I: r.Spicer seconded by Mr.
Lohman, were approved as read.
COMMUNICATIONS:
None.
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS:
Clerk read the following bills which
were approved by the Finance Committee and upon motion
by Mr.Lohman seconded by Mr.Spicer , were ordered paid.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS :
Clerk read, Treasurers Reports for July and
August , Clerks Monthly Report for July and August , and
Fiscal Statement for July and August, which were ,upon
motion by Mr.Spicer, seconded by Mr.Lohman, approved as
read and ordered a part of these minutes.
Clerk then submitted Annual Report of Tax
Assessor, for year 1928. tftxx Motion by Mr.Spicer,
seconded by Mr.LaLmhn, that report be accepted, as
reddered and referred to Committee for examination,
and checked for corrections, to be returned to Council
when it sits as Equalization Board , at its regular
meeting Tuesday October 2nd 1928, at 8 Oclock P .M.
Motion carried, after discussion, as made.
Clerk was instructed to post in ( 3) three
conspicious places, and also bublish (1) One time in
The New Smyrna News and The New Smyrna Breeze, notice
to the effect that Council would sit as Equalization
Board for purpose of hearing admplaints for adjustments
on tax assessment for year 1928, at its regular meeting
to be held Tuesday October 2nd 1928 at 8 Oclock P .M.
e Mayor Zipperer, reported that he had held
on trial during Month of August, wherin ''falter Giddens
had been tried , as per record appearing in Municipal
Court Docket, and that said Walter Giddens had been
found guilty and fined $25.00 and Costs or 30 days in
jail. He not being able to pay the costs had served
the jail sentences Further that prisoner had developed
toothache while serving the sentence and that medical

attention had been furnished by Dr.Chittick, at a cost
of :$8.25, )
NEW BUSINESS : President Patch here offered the following: ,1

:'heras , Councilman E .N.DeWitte has not been present
for some time at the meetings of council, and wheras
Annual Elections of officers will be held in November,
and wheras it appears that Mr.DeWitte may not be in ,
position to continue to Five his services to the Town,
THEREFORE, NOW,BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk, be
and hereby is, instructed to write Mr.DeWitte , and ask
him, in the event that he does not think he will be
in position to serve another term, or the remainder of
his present term, to tender The Town Council his res-
ignation, in order to avoid a Special Election; and in
order that his successor might be named at Annual h
Election to be held in November 1928; This request to i .
be made clear to Mr.Dewitte that in the event he expects

to return to serve his term of office , then this request
shall be null and void, and to be considered as if not
made.
Motion by Mr.Lohman, seconded by Mr.Patch that
the above resolution be aacepted. Unanimously carried.
Mr.Spicer moved that Town Marshall be instructed
to erect or cause to be erected at north and south end
of Town, as near Dixie Highway, as The Highway Dept. ,
will permit, a sign, lettered to read " Town of Edgewater,
CROSS ROADS , DRIVE SLOW " , signs to cost not exceeding
five ( 5) dollars each. After discussion, in which it
developed that Town Marshall Simpson, who was present,
understood what was required, and who stated he could
have the signs made and erected for five dollars each
or less , motiorwas duly seconded by Mr.Lohman, and
unanimously carried.
