The City Council of Edgewater
Edgewat er FloridaS
Gentlemen,
The Financial Committee being requested to see Insurance ken rel-
ative insurance for our deposits in the authorized depositories have the fol-
lowing report to submits
Mr. Sams advises he could insure our deposits but the banks could af-
ford us the same protection with out the cost of premiums on such a policy. He
stated Newsmyrna funds were protected in a like manner and felt ours could be
also. I interviewed Mr. Small and he did not have anything on file but would
write to Atlanta and secure the information, but up until the present time he
has not had a reply.
Ur. Goodyear talked with Mr Ashton of The State Bank and Trust Co.,
and he agreed to secure our deposits at that bank.
I talked with Mr. Webster and he advised he did not think our de-
posits warranted such security since it was of an amount averaging $1000.00
per month for a period of 12 months. He said he would not care to give us
a definite answer until he could take the matter up with the board. But , he
promised to take the matter up with the board at their next meeting which
would be held prior to our next meeting.
I asked Er. `lebster, if the council would agree to name The Fidel-
ity Bank as their depositiory for one year and the State Bank and Trust Co.,
the following year or vice versa, would he be agreeable to secure our deposits
He said, "He Would 38 he felt with an average balance of approximately two
thousand dollars each month would warrant this He also stated that there were
other courtesies which they would gladly extend to us and felt the State Bank
would also, with such an arrangement.
We the Financial Committee, if such a recommendation be in order,
recommend that one of the banks either, The State Bank and Trust Co, or The
Fidelity Bank of Newsmyrna be named as our depositories for a period of one
Year. le appreciate, however that this body has already passed resolutions
naming both banks as our depositories, but we feel it would be to our advan-
tage to confine our business to one bank and alternate each fiscal. year.
that is meant by securing our funds is for the depositiory to de-
posit bonds in Tallahassee as security thereby insuring our deposits.

c) ,
City Council of Edgewater Flo.`
Edgewater Florida=
Gentlemen:
"ire, The Street Coranittee upon investigating the bridge on Park Avenue
which has been described as being dangerous and a ha zard to mot orists etc s is
in such condition we do not feel like expending any of the Citys Funds without
replacing the present culvert with new material throughout . The present culvert
is of Corrugated Sheet Metal and is about rusted out, end it would appear to be
just throwing away money to do anything but tare up the present culvert and lay
new pipe or tile.
Ne have made inquiries as to the prices of material used for such
work and find Terra Cotta tile to be cheaper than Galvanized Corrugated Sheet
Metal, we also feel that Terra Cotta tile would be a peraenent fixture and
would not rust as Sheet Metal. The tile are 24 inch in diameter and not sixteen
inch as was stated at a previous meeting. At present there are two such culverts
at this bridge and we feel that one 24 inch pipe would take care of the water.
Instead of making temporary repairs as we recommended previously, we
have decided to leave the bridge as it is for the present and until such time
as the Council sees fit to tare up the culvert and and lay a new one. Mr. Moore
built and fence on either side of the road as a warning to motorists and others
to not run off the road bed while passing over this culvert , which Ilethink will
be sufficient warning.
The material to repair this culvert would be 8 lengths of Terra Cotta
pipe 2- feet in length, if one opening is to be made, and 16 lengths 2i feet
long if t• o openings are to be made, at a cost of Two dollars ten cents 02.10)
■
per length 24 inch in diameter.
ere have not been able to see Mr. Ferris or Mr. Moore relative to the
light on the above mentioned bridge, hence the delay in installing same, or
having same installed•
