MINUTES OF REGULAR M RTIN G OF TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD TUESDAY APRIL 2nd A.D. 1929. ORDER: Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Ald. Renwick. who requested clerk to call the roll. ROLL CALL: $sror Lembeck, Present. Pres. Patch , Absent. Rid. Goodyear, Present Ald. Marz , Present Ald. Moore, Present Aid. Renwick, Present. It being shown that Pres. of Council, Aid. Patch, was absent, Motion by Ald. Goodyear seconded by A1d.Moore, that Ald. Renwick, be elected President-of Council,Pro. Tem. Motion carried. .MINUTES: Minutes of regular meeting held March 19th A.D. 1929, were read and upon motion by Ald. Moore seconded by Ald. Good- year, adopted as read. BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS: The clerk read the following bills: H.A.MOORE ;72.00 Warrant No 523 R.C.Fulier, 51.00 " " 524 City of New Smyrna 2.00 ' " 525 Paul D Leddin 10.00 " " 526 P .H.Simpson, 15.00 " " 527 Upon motion by Ald. Goodyear, seconded by Aid. Marz, the above bills were orderd paid as read. Motion carried REPORTS OF OFFICERS: Clerk read report of clerk, and treasurer, for month of March A.D. 1929. Motion by Aid. Moore seconded by Aid. Marz, that reports be accepted and made a part of these minutes. Motion carried. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: Street tiommittee made a report relative numbering of houses and placing names of streets on signs at street intersections , said report attached hereto.z*t After discussion the Council agreed to not take any action at the present time on this report. MISCELLANEOUS: Mayor Lembeck addressed the Council, relative needs of the Town Library, which is conducted by the Village Imp- rovement Association, setting forth the fact that books were needed for children. Miss Gilson, Secretary of the Village Improvement .Ass'n spoke to the Council relative this matter, and stated that the Library, which is public, had let out 1:700 books during the calendar year 1928. The Town Council to conisder ways and means of beautify- ing the Town, in order to make it more attractive to fut- ure residents , as well as of lasting benefits to present residents. Pres .rro. em. Renwick, on behalf of Council thanked both Mayor Lembeck and Miss Gilson, for their int- eresting talks. Ald.Renwick requested Ald. Moore to assist him in examin- ing into the needs of the Library, with a view of deter- mining what assistance the Council might render. Mayor Lembeck, now stated to Council that he expected the Hon. Mayor and City Officials of our neighboring City,New Smyrna, to visit us, and requested Council to hold the meeting open for this purpose. Mayor Lembeck, now introduced to the Council, the follow- City Officials of New Smyrna, including Commissioner-.elect Mr.Newellt Mayor Swoope, Commissioners Latham and Griffin, City Algid&4ow Manager,Ferris, City Auditor and Clerk M.L. Fuller, and Chief of Police S.B .White. Mayor Lembeck, welcomed the visitors to Edgewater, stressing the fact of the very pleasant relations between the two Cities now existant, with an assurance that Edgewater would always be glad to co-operate to the fullest with New Smyrna in any way possible, to the advantage of the enterests of the peoples in the respective Towns. Mayor Swoope , in response to Mayor Lembecks welcome, stated that the ties which bind New Smyrna and Edgewater, were so close as to make a harmonious co-operation necessary and assured the Town Council that such co-operation would con- tinue. Messers Ferris,Latham,Newell, Fuller, and White , all ex- pressed the desire to continue in co-operative service between the bot two Towns. Motion by Ald. Moore seconded by Ald.
