MINUTES OP CALLED MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN
OP EDGEWATER YLORIDA, HELD THURSDAY MAY SEWED A.D.
1929.
Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. by Pres. Patch.
Roll call:
Mayor Lembeck Present

Ald. Moore Present

CALL:
Clerk read the Call which was issued by Mayor Lembeck,
as follows" For the purpose of discussing means to combat
the Mediterrenean Fruit fly*.
BUSINESS AT HA11D:
Mayor Lembeck stated that he had called
the meeting after conference with The State Plant Board
Inspector, who requested the Town to prepare a pit for the
purpose of destroying the fruit in the Town. The State to
furnish all labor and hauling for the destroying of the
fruit, as well as the necessary oil and lime.
After genergl discussion by the Alderman
. present as to the advisability of co-operating with the State
in stamping out this pest which menances the future welfare
of the State and this community, the following Motion was
offered by Aid. Marz: That the Town Council Authorize the digging
of the pit or trench, on the Town Lots, to receive the Fruits
collected by the State; and that the Mayor and Street Committee
be placed in charge of the work". Seconded by Ald. Moore. Pres
Patch asked for Roll Call on the Motion. , the vote being
Pres.Patch-.Yes, Ruiz Aid. Moore Yes, Ald. Marz Yes. Motion
carried unanimously.
Mayor Lembeck then urged the Civic Orgina-
zations to assist in notifying the residents of the necessity
for complying with the Governments request, Mr.Ashcraft of the
V.I .A. , and Mrs.Mathewson of the Civic League, assured the
Council of thier willingness, thru their orginazations to assist
in any way possible.
Motion by Ald. Moore seconded by Ald. Marz,
that meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
