ORDER- Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .M. by Pres.Marz. ROLL CALL- Pres. Marz, Present Ald.W.T.Goodyear, Absent Ald.H .A.Ioore Present. Ald.Paul Van Arman , Present A1d.H.P. 'ilkinson, • Absent. Other officers present: Mayor F.R.Renwick. MINUTES of regular meeting held Tuesday July 15th, were read and upon motion by Ald. Van Arman, seconded by Aid. H .A.Moore, approved as read. Motion by Ald.Paul Van Arman , seconded by Ald.H .A. Moore , that rules of Order be dispensed with and that bouncil hear Mr.N.E .Harper , who was present, on the subject of Fruit Fly Eradication Spraying. Motion un- animously carried. Mr.Harper; stated to Council that the Federal Govern- ment had virtually agreed to remove the restrictions now governing the movement of Citrus fruits , so as to permit the shipment to the Mid-West , without "process- ing", provided the State of Florida , Counties and To! is , co-operated to the extent of seeing that each grove and citrus tree, was sprayed twice , under Department of Agri- culture , supervision and regulations. The Government to furnish the material for the spraying, and the ,state , Towns , and individuals to furnish the labor. It was es- timated that two days labor for two men for each spray period would be required in Edgewater, and since it was impossible to get in touch with the individual owners , especially of small lots, that the Industry would be best served if the Town would furnish the labor and spray all Citrus trees in the Town. Mr.Harper added that his oven, grove in the Town had already been sprayed at his ex- pense. Mr.t}arper further stated that all Towns in this section were already doing this work citing as instances Ormond , Daytona and New Smyrna. Council after discussing the matter with mr.Harper, de- cided that immediate action was necessary to be of any benefit in the matter, and Ald.Paul Van Aran made mot- tion, seconded by Ald.H .A.Moore, that The Town furnish necessary labor for Spraying Citrus trees in the Corporate limits of the Town, the Street Committee being authorized to proceed with the work as soon as material is received. Motion unanimously carried. Mr.H.P .Glaab, asked Council to investigate and take necesw ary steps to stop the disorderly and rowdy crowds at Burn- hiemers store at nights , and several occasions property damage having been done to Mr.Glaabs business next door, and on each ngeht that dances are held, crowds so disorderly that the entire neighborhood was disturbed. Mayor Renwick told Mr.Glaab that the matter was being in- vestigated, and that it would be stopped. Continued on sheet ar Nor' ,,�✓. ORDINANCES : Clerk read Ordinance Number 37 , entitled , " An ordinance providing for the rate of l'axation on all property, both real and personal, in the Town of Edgewater,Volusia County , Florida." ( a copy of said 0rdinance being attached to these minutes. Motion by Ald.raul Van .merman, seconded by Ald.H.A.Moore , that , second reading be dis- pensed with, and that Ordinance. Number 37 , be passed to its final reading. Motion carried the vote being as follows: Ald.-Pres- Marz ,Yes Ald.Paul Van Arman, Yes , Ald.H.A.Moore , Yes. NEW BUSINESS: Mayor Renwick, reported to council that Marshhl1 A`:J."annon, had been absent from the Town con' inousiy since July 9th. , without having given him notice of such intention to be absent, and that the Town was now without the protection of a police officer. After discussion, Council deferred action on iIayor Renwicks report until the next regular meeting. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF TAXATION ON ALL PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PERSONAL, IN THE TON OF EDGE- WATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF TEE TOWN OF EDGEATER,VOLUSIA COUNTY, "LORIDA: SECTION 1. All property, both real and personal , in the Town of Edgewater, Flottda, shall be taxed, in accordance with the Laws of the State of Florida, and all persons,firms and corporations , owning property within the territorial or corporate limits of said town shall pay taxes thereon, at the rate of ten mills ( 10) per anum for eac# one dollar 'glue of such property4 SECTION 2. All ordinances , or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
