MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE TON
COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGE'r ATER,FLORIDA,
HELD TUESDAY, THE 20TH DAY OF OCTOBER,A.D.
• 1931, AT 7:30 ' Oclock P.M., in the V.I.A.
HALL, IN TIE TOWN OF EDGEV/AT.ER, FLORIDA.
MEETING called to order at 1;30 O'Clock
by Mayor W.T.Goodyear.
ROLL CALL:
Mayor-Councilman W.T.Goodyear, Present
Councilman. F.R.Renwick, Present
Councilman H.A.Moore, Present.
Other officers present were C.T.King,Marshall
and R.C .Fuller, Town Clerk.
MINUTES of regular meeting held Tuesday October 6th. ,
A.D. 1931, were approved as read, upon motion by
Councilman P.R.Renwick, seconded by Council H.A.
Moore, the motion being unanimously carried.
CO3: 'TCTTIICATIOILS:
Clerk read letters exchanged between
the Florida Motor Lines Inc., the Colonial Stages
South Inc. , and the Town of Edgewater, relative the
speed of the busses thru the Town. Both bus Companies
assured the Town that thier drivers would be instructed
to literally comply with the law and reduce the speed
of thier busses thru the town accordingly. No action
taken by Council on the letters, other than a general
discussion. Clerk R.C.Puller, stated that he had not-
iced that one of the Companies involved had up to this
date apparently tried to comply with the law but cited
a specific case in which the Florida Motor Lines, had
on October 20th 1931, had a bus which passed the Seaboard
Filling Station, on the Corner of Park Avenue and Ridge-
wood Avenue, drt 12:45 O' Clock P.M., traveling southward
at an excessive speed, approximately 45 miles an hour.
The Marshall was instuucted by the Mayor to watch the
speed of the busses and report any violations to the
Mayor for action.

ORDINANCES:
Mayor W.T.Goodyear, introduced Ordinance
Number 38, entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
RATE OF TAXATION ON ALL PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PER-
SONAL, IN TIM TOJi OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY,
FLORIDA".
Councilman H.ATMoore moved that Ordinance
33 be passed to its second and final reading,
the motion being seconded by Councilman F.R.Renwick,
and unanimously carried the vote of the Council being
as follows: Councilman W.T.Goodyear,Yes, Councilman,
P.R.Renwick, Yes, Councilman H.A.Moore, Yes.
Mayor W.T.Goodyear, then introduced Ord-
inance number 39 entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR
AND FIXING TEE COMPENSATION OF TIM ITMBERS OF TEE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OP EDGE';'ATER,FLORIDA, FOR
ATTENDING REGULAR AND SPECIAL 17T;TINGS OF THE TOWN
COUNCIL OP THE SAID TO T) OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA

M inute sof regular meeting of the Town Council,
Town of Edgewater, Florida, held. Tuesday Oct-
ober 20th A.D . 1931.. Concluded-
Councilman H.A.Moore, made mtion that Ordinance
Number 39 , as introduced, be passed to its second
-nd final reading. The motion was seconded by
Councilman F.R.Renwick, and unanimously carried,
the aye and nay vote of the Council being as
follows: Councilman 'J.T .Goodyear, Yes , Councilman
F.R.Renwick, Yes, Councilman H.A.Moore , Ties.
NEW BUSINESS:
1 r.Phil J.' .rz, presented to the Council,
his petition as Candidate for Town Clerk in the
election to be held on the third day of November A.D.
1931. , with a request that if consistent, the Town
Council would then and there check his petition and
if found in order, order his name placed upon the
ballot,accordingly. I;,.r. uarz' s acceptance of the nom-
ination accompanied his petition.
The Council acceded to his request and
exar.riined and certified his petition, found the same
in order; and upob, Motion by Councilman H.A.Moore. ,
seconded by Cpuncilman F.R.Renwick, Ordered the name
of Phil MTarz, placed upon the ballot for the office
of Town Clerk, in the election to be held Tuesday,
the third day of November A.D. 1931.
After discussion as to the time af,it
in which petitions could be filed under the provisions
of the law, it was agreed that Saturday ictober_: 24th
was the final date for the filing of petitions of
Candidates for offices to be filled in the Annual
Election to be held Tuesday "Tov. 3rd A.D. 1931, and
the clerk was instr,cted to Post Notices to this effect
on the Town bulletin boards, in order that the public
might be informed, and further that the Council would
meet at 7:00 O'clock P.M. on Saturday October. 24th,
A.D. 1931, for the purpose of receiving such petitions.
Councilman F.R.Renwick, ,_7adew a motion that
tha Cpuncil adjourn until Saturday October 24th A.D. 1931
at 7:00 O' clock P.M. The motion was seconded by Council-
man F.R.Renwick, and unanimously carried.
'.Thereupon the Mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.

of which places are located within the limits of the
Town of Edgewater, Florida.

NOTICE OP ANNUAL ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Council of the Town
of Edgewater, Florida, under and by virture of the authority
vested in it by the laws of the State of Florida, and the
Ordinances of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, has ordered.
an annual election to be held on Tuesday the Third day of
November A.D. 1931, at the V.I .A. HALL, in the Town of
Edgewater, Florida, for the purpose of electing three ( 3 )
Councilmen, of which the candidate receiving the highest
number of votes shall be elected. for a term of three (3)
years, the candidate receiving the next highest number of
votes for a term. of Two ( 2 ) years, and the candidate
receiving the the third highest totes for a term of One
(1) year; and for the further purpose of electing a Town
Clerk, whose term of office shall be for One (1) year, or
until thier, his or her successors are duly elected and
qualffied.v The polls will open at 8 O' clock A.11. and will
close at Sundown, Eastern Standard. Time , on the day of
said election. The said election shall be held in substantial
conformity with the rules applicablik to general elections
held under the laws of the State of Florida.
