Minutes of regular meeting of the Town Council held
December 6th, 1933 were read and approved as corrected.
BIT:U1 AND ACCOUNTS
Clerk read following bills, New Smyrna News $6.40 ,
City of New Smyrna Lights $2:00. Motion made by Councilman
E. ` . Ely that bills be paid, seconded by Councilman H.P. Wil-
kinson. Motion. carried.
NEW BUSINESS Mr. Shellenbarger, a property owner, raised the
question that he understood that work done by the C' A, the cost
of surveying has been done by County and State surveyors without
cost to municipalities , and that he did not see the reason why the
cost of surveying the Strand should be paid by the Town of Edgewater.
Mr. W.H. Beckwith raised the question that he did not
see where a surveyor was needed to survey this road; that the
Tovn had had a surveyor when the spoilage was pumped on the West
shore; that the Council supervised the work and that it shows the
result of their supervision.
Mr. A.B. ` i1kinson asked the question if this was a
citizens meeting, or a Council meeting, and that if it was a
citizens meeting, the Council should adjourn. Numerous other
discussions were made by tax payers on the question of surveying
the Strand.
Motion made by Councilman H.P. Wilkinson that
Attorney G.O.Rasco be engaged to get in touch with proper authorities
to have this river road CWA project worked up, and report at next
meeting. Motion seconded by Councilman E.A. Ely and carried.
councilman E.A. Ely was appointed committe of one to
build bridge on old "County Road" and authorized to employ two laborers.
L SCELL OUS
Councilman E.A. Ely reported that he had gone further
on this CWA Strand road project, and that T.r. Branaman, County
Surveyor, stated that a preliminary survey could be made for $125.00
to $150.00, but that the detail survey and supervision would cost
two to three times the cost of the preliminary survey.
rr. J.U. Gillespie asked the question if any certain
surveyor had been angaged to do this surveying; that he was deeply
interested in this road project.
Mr. R.L. Baker spoke relative to the south side of
the South Canal; that he thought a large quantity of palmetto logs
could be had from Mayor i:;woope of New :;myrna should a committe call
on him. This piling he stated could be used on the south side of the
Canal to prevent the bank from caving.
Motion to adjourn by Councilman E.A. Ely, seconded
by Councilman 7.P. Wilkincon. Totion carried.
