READING OF MINUTES
Minutes of regular meeting of the Town Council held
January 3rd, 1934 were read and approved, on motion made by
Councilman H.P. hilkinson and seconded by Mayor F.R. Renwick.
COMMUNICATIONS
Clerk read letter from Bryan 'srillis , State Auditor
in which he advised that the UWA has authorized a project calling
for a statistical debt and tax survey of incorporated Towns in
Florida, which information is to become part of the records of the
tate Auditing Department, and asking that his auditor be given
the necessary information when called for. Mayor F.R. Renwick
stated that the Clerk co-operate with the Auditor when he calls
for the requested information.
Clerk read a petition presented by the Citizens Com-
mitte of Edgewater, asking the Council for the privilege to have
Attorney J.U. Gillespie to work in conjunction with Town Attorney
G.O. Rasco, in any proceedings which the Hill Dredging Co. , may file
against the Town. The cost of Attorney Gillespiets services to be
paid by the Citizens Committe. Motion made by Councilman E.A. Ely
that associate counsel be accepted to work in conjunction with
*ttprney Rasco. Mayor Renwick called for a second. The motion was
not seconded and therefore lost for want of a second.
Clerk read a second petition presented by the Citizens
Committe of Edgewater, asking the Council to cancel the Pour Thousand
($p4,000.00) of time warrants which the Hill Dredging Co. , had returned,
stating that the warrants were drawing interest at the rate of 52�
from date of issuance; also pleaded that the Hill Dredging Co. ,
return the : 470.00 which had previously been paid them, as the contract
was illegal. Motion made by Councilman E.A. Ely that these warrants
be cancelled. Mayor Renwick called for a second. The motion was not
seconded and therefore lost for want of a second.
Mayor Renwick stated that he thought it best to have
more time to study these two petitions.
Attorney Gillespie and Mrs.D.F. Ellwanger made short
talks expressing their views on the time wrrants; both asked the
Town Council to consider and cancel these time warrants, Attorney
Gillespie stated he represented 72 tax payers.
Mayor Renwick said that he did not favor cancelling
the time warrants at present; th-.t the Council would like to think

Department for $37.40 in payment of sand which they purchased
from the Town. Motion made by Councilman E.A. Ely, seconded by
Councilman H.P. 'Wilkinson, that this sum be placed in the
permanent improvement fund. Motion carried.
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS
Clerk read following bills F.R. Renwick for attendance
council meetings $5:00; H.P. Wilkinson for attendance council meetings
$7:00; J.J. Francis for attendance Council meetings ¢ 5:000 E.A. Ely
for attendance council meetings $3:00; E.H. Lehman Clerks salary for
one and one bald months $75:00; E.H. Lohman for Clerks fees x,2.00;
New Smyrna News Co. , printing and stationery `!;14:50; City of New
Smyrna for lights $2:00. On motion made by Councilman H.P. Wilkinson
seconded by Councilman E.A. Ely that bills be paid as read. Motion
carried.
Clerk also read bill from Attorney G.O. Rasco for : 150.00
for legal services, which was approved, but not paid on account lack
of sufficient funds in the Legal Fund.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
Clerk read monthly budget report, which was received
and ordered made a part of these minutes.
REPORTS OF SPECIAL COM .LITTES
Mayor F.R. Renwick stated that he inspected the Strand
in front of Highland Shores of which Mr. Shellenbarger made complaint,
Mayor Renwick said that at the present time the road Was in fairly
good shape and did not need and immediate repairs.

9i24,,-bridge an "Old County Road" and that same is now in good condition.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mayor F.R. Renwick stated that complaint had been filed
with him that beer signs had been placed on the Town gates on Dixie
Highway for advertising purposes, and that he would see that they
were removed.
Councilman E.A. Ely reported that complaint had been
made to him that two bridges on Par Ave. west of the Railroad were
in need of repairs. Mayor Renwick_AUftnbancilmen Ely, Wilkinson and
himself go as a body January 18th, and inspect condition of these
bridges.
Attorney G.O. Rasco stated that it had been reported
to him that the T'ov.n of EdgewaterWas entitled to one-half of the road
maintainence fund collected by the State and County in the corporate
limits of the To n of Edgewater. Council suggested getting more
information from County Commissioner Patillo on the matter.
Attorney G.O. Rasco stated that he had a conference
with Attorney M.H. Long, counsel for the Hill Dredging Co. , and
he assured him there would be no immediate action taken against the
Ton at the present time.
There being no further business, slaved by H.P. '.Wilkinson
seconded by E.A. Ely that Council adjourn. Motion carried..
