MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA
HELD IN THE V.I .A. HALL WEDNESDAY APRIL 18 , 1934.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor-Councilman F. R. Renwick
at 7;40 P.M.

READING OF MINUTES
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Town Council
held April 4, 1934 were read and approved on motion made by
Councilman E. A. Ely, seconded by Mayor-Councilman F. R. Renwick.
COMMUNICATIONS . •
Clerk, E. H. Lohman read letter from Homer Hatch asking
co-operation of the Town Council in taking legal action for
himself, and other taxpayers , against squatters occupying
their premises on the riverfront, in Totem Park. Attorney
Rasco lent his advice and Clerk Lohman was authorized to
write Mr. Hatch to the effect thnt no action could be taken
by the Council, as the property was personal and not munici-
pally owned.
Clerk, E. H. Lohman read letter from 1 s. C. H. Platt
requesting reconsideration of her tax assessment on property
located on the riverfront, stating that she would appreciate
her assessment being amended to the same as that of 1932.
Clerk was instructed to advise Yrs. Platt that it had been
necessary to raise the millage on all property but that her
valuation remained the same as in 1932.E
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS.
Bill from Ray Brewer for painting caution signs for speed
restrictions , was read and approved for payment of $14:1)0 on
motion made by Councilman H. P. Wilkinson seconded by CounciLaan
E. A. Ely and warrant No. 1451 was issued in payment thereof.

Attorney Rasco stated that he appeared at the County
Commissioners meeting in De Land with letters from Mayor-
Councilman F. R. Renwick, and Councilmen I. P. Wilkinson and
E. A. Ely requesting retaining highway patrolmen. At the
suggestion of Sherriff S. E. Stone they were not read on
account of his thought that they would have more weight if
taken up at the Commissioners meeting which will be held May 2
at which time the patrolmen situation will be taken up.
Attorney Rasco stated tht he had received a letter from
L U. Long, attorney for the Hill Dredging Company stating tht
the Asiiimamn case would come before the Federal Court at an
early date.
ORDINANCES .
Ordinance No. 51 granting the New Smyrna Fire Department
and Ambulances right of way through the Town was presented by
Councilman H. P. Wilkinson seconded by Councilman E. A. Ely.

?ayor Councilman reported that bridge on Knapp Avenue
had been constructed 't would not approve bill for payment
until some minor changes had been made.
Clerk was authorized to purchase necessary office supplies

There being no further business it was moved by Councilman
E. .A. Ely and seconded by Councilman H. P. Wilkinson tht the
meeting be adjourned. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at
9 :30 P.M.
