05-02-1934 - Regular MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLU3IA COUNTY, FLORIDA HELD IN THE V.I .A. HALL. WEDNESDAY MAY 2, 19 34. Meeting was called to order by Mayor-Councilman r'.R.Renwick at 7:40 P.M. ROL;. CALL Mayor-Councilman 2.R.Renwick Present Councilman H.P.Wilkinson Present Councilman E.A.Ely Present clerk E.H.Lohman Present Attorney G.O.Rasco Present READING OF MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting of the Town Council held April 18, 1934 were read and approved on motion made by Councilman H. P.Wilkinson seconded by E.A.Ely. C0 '.T' vTI CATI ONS Mayor-Councillman F.R.Renwick presented comitiunications received from New Smyrna Abstract Company, New Smyrna Chamber of Comaterce, and J.L.Pattillo County Commissioner. Communication from the New Smyrna Abstract Company was in regards to the Town of Edgewaterts pro-rat7, share of the County Road tax, within the incorporated limits of the Town. Co ;ouunication from. County Commissioner J.L.Pattillo was to the effect that he was greatly in favor of Road Patrol and complimented the Town of Edgewater for the placing of warning signs to motorists to observe speed restrictions. Mayor-councilman related to a statement made some time ago by the County Engineer relative to the Strand Road being County property. At the present time the road is badly in need of repairs and the Town Charter includes this strip of land in the incorporated Towrnts boundary. After discussion Councilman E.A.Ely made motion which was seconded by Councilman M.P.Wilkinson to invite Commissioner Pattillo and County Engineer H.C.Branaman to the next Council meeting to discuss who were responsible for the upkeep of the road. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS Clerk E.H.Lohman read the followi flg bills: Salary due Mayor- Councilman F.R.Renwick for attendance at Council meetings during the month of April 2:00; Salary due Councilman H.P.Wilkinson for attendance at Council meetings for the month of April $2:00; Salary due Councilman E.A.Ely for attendance at Council meetings during the month of April $p400; Salary due Clerk E.H.Lohman for the month 41, April $50'.00; Fee due clerk for collectio of bupp�iness license 25%; postage paid for by Clerk E.H.Lohman 86k; legal 'services rendered by G.O.Rasco from March 21, 1933 to March 21, 1934 X75:00; Monthly light bill for April, City of New Smyrna $2:00; labor oft bridge near Weather's property 1.r00;J.J.Lofton; labor for building bridge on Knapp Avenue, 'J.McLane $87.00; Lumber for speed warning sign uprights, Bond Howell Lumber Company $2:64. Motion made by Councilman H.P.=iil.kinson seconded by Councilman E.A.Ely that all bills be approved and paid. Warrants 1452 to 1462 inclusive were issued in payment of the above bills. REPORTS OP OFFICERS " Clerk E.H.Lohman read monthly report of budget and cash statement which were received ando cge a part of these minutes on motion made by H.P.Wilkinson, seconded by E.A.Ely. REPORTS OF COT2NTTEES l yor Councilman li .R.Renwick reported that bridge on Knapp Avenue had been completed and was now O.K. for service. Approval for payment for the construction of the bridge included under caption BILLS MD ACCODUTS. Upon recommendation of City Attorney G.O.Rasco motion was made by Councilman E.A.Ely, seconded by Councilmen H.P.Wilkinson that posting of delinquent tax list be postponed until Tune 1st • and sale postponed until Tuly 2nd, 1934. Councilman E.A.Ely made a motion, which was seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson for Clerk E.H.Lohmnn to have printed one thousand delinquent tax sale certificates. EISCELLANEOUS General discussion was had as to materials to be used for filling in ruts on the streets, and also scraping of the streets. Mayor-Councilman P.R.Renwick stated that he had been informed that marl could be used for such purposes and that it was of a lasting duality. No further action was taken on tis matter. There being no further business it was moved by Councilman H.P,Wilkinson and seconded by uouncilman E.A.Ely that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
