ROLL CALL Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick Present Councilman H.P.Wilkinson Present Councilman E.A.Ely Present Clerk E.H.Lohma.n Present Attorney G.O.Rasco Present READING OF MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting of the Town Council held May 16, 1934 were read, and approved on motion made by Councilman E.A.Ely, seconded by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick. Minutes of special meeting held May 21, 1934 were read, and approved on motion made by E.A.Ely, seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson. COT "_ZTr]I CATI OHS Clerk read letter from J.M.Lee, State Comptroller, dated at Tallahassee, May 29th stating that the assessment valuations on Railroads, Utilites, etc. would not be sent out from his office until after July.first. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS Following bills were presented by the clerk: F.R.Renwick $3.00, for May attendance at council meetings; IL..P.Wilkinson $2:00, for May attendance at council meetings; E.A.Ely $3:00, for May attendanceat council metings ; E.H.Lohman $50:OQ, for salary for month of May as Town Clerk; City of New Smyrna $2:00 , for monthly -light bill for office lights; E.H.Lohman $1:38. for postage; H.P.Wilkinson $40:50 for truck hire hauling sand. 6n Strand Road; City of New Smyrna $245:00 for balance due on yearly street light bill; D.M.MacDonald 046:35 for truck hire hauling sand on Strand Road. Clerk was, instructe.d to pay the above bills on motion made by Councilman E.A.Ely seconded by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick and warrants numbers 1466 to 1474 inclusive were issued. REPORTS OF O P !I CERS Clerk read monthly budget report and cash statement which were received and ordered made a part of these minutes on motion made by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman. E.A.Ely. NE `r B USIT_ SS.. Mayor-Councilman P.R.Renwick stated tht he had received a report from L . C.T.King that a tree had been blown down in Highlat Shores in the rear of the Anast Nick property. Upon discussion it was decided that if the tree was on private porperty that nothing could be done about it, but if it was on Town property it would be removed. HALL WEDNESDAY JUNE 6, 1934. T:a.yor-Councilman F.R.Renwick stated that on May 28th the State Road Department had removed a quantity of sand and shell from the Strand Road where it had been placed for use by the Totem of Edgewater at the Townts expense, and hauled it to the Dixie Hiway bridge which crosses the Canal. This being done to repair damage done by recent rains and washouts. Clerk was instructed to is. ue bill for 50 yards CI, 50% per yard against the State Road Department and forward bill to C.B.Treadway, Chair man of the State Road Department at Tallahassee, Florida. Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick reported that ditch West of . Dixie Hiway was filling up with palmetto fans and other rubbish and tree limbs but that action on this would be deferred until the next council meeting. Mr. Davis reported that that portion of Park Avenue road which crossed the ditch just East of the old county road shows signs of caving in and was in dangerous condition. Mayor-Council F.R.Renwick suggested that same be investigated by Councilmen. Wilkinson and Ely, and if necessary hate same repaired at once. Mr. H.B.Ashcraft reported that drain holes on bridge cross* canal on the river road had become clo ged up allowing water to stand on bridge decking which would in a short time cause the decking to rot out. It was suggested that pipe be placed in the drain holes which would eliminate to a certain extent the clog- ing of the drain holes. There being no further business it was moved by Councilman E.A.Ely, and seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting was adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
