09-12-1934 - Special U i MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER VOLUSIA COUNTY FLORIDA HELD IN THE V.I .A. HAT,T, WEDNESDAY September 12, 1934. Meeting was called to order by Mayor-Councilman F. R. Renwick at 7:40 P.M. for the purpose of receiving bids for the remov- al of the City Gates or for any other- business which may come before the meeting. ROLL CALL Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick Present Councilman K.P.Wilkinson Absent Councilman E.A.Ely Present Clerk E.H.Lohman Present Attorney G. O.Rasco Present READING OF MINUTES Minutes of meeting held September 5 were read by clerk and approved on motion made by Councilman E.A.Ely seconded by Mayor-Councilman. P.R.Renwick. Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick moved that regular order of business be suspended and motion was seconded by Councilman E. A. E13. RECEIVING OF BIDS FOR REMOVAL OF CITY GATES. Motion was made by Councilman E. A. Ely seconded by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick that bids be opened. Following bids were received; H.A.Moore $24.00 Removal of gates.& debris. J.A.Jacksony30.00 Removal of gates & disposing of materials. Will McLane$40.00 Removal of gates & placing material therefrom on the Town Lots. Bid rejected account not signed properly. Motion was made by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick that seconded by Councilman E.A.Ely that bid of H.A.Moore be accepted, article 3 raising gates and disposing of debris for the sum of $24,00, contract for the work to be drawn up by Attorney G.O.Kasco. RECEIVING OF BIDS FOR STREET CLEANING NM Bid was received from E.W.Clinton for man and mule at rate of $4.00 per day of 8 hours, Town of Edgewater to furnish mowing machine for mowing grass and weeds on Town streets. Motion was made by Councilman E.A.Ely seconded by Mayor- Councilman F.R.Renwick to accept bid , work to commence Friday September 14th. Bid was received from Will McLane in the amount of $10.00 to clean out ditch, cut out grass, remove palmetto fans , also to remove any other debris from ditch West of Dixie Highway from North boundary line of Town, Southward to Park Avenue. Motion was made by councilman E.A.Ely seconded by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick to accept bid, work to be completed not later than Saturday September 22nd. t MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER VOLUSIA COUNTY FLORIDA VELD IN THE V.I .A.HALL WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 1934. COMPLAINTS Complaint was received from R. C. Fuller, driver of School Bus, that it would be impos ible to operate bus on River Road until overhanging limbs and certain trees be removed. T. otion was made by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick, seconded by Councilman E.A.Ely that man be employed to trim leaning branches and remove tree from in front of H.H.Hatch place and such other trees that are deemed hazardous by the Town Council. CO I' t UNI CATIONS Letter was received from R. S. Fee, President of the V. I. A. relative to suggested action to be taken to protect property owners from larceny, breaking and entering and other thievery now being carried. on within the Town limits. Letter wets received from Tars. Dora Christiansen asking the condition of her property located on the River Road and Hamilton Road. Letter was received from F.B.Dunn of the State Road Department approving bill for 20 yards of sand and shell amounting to p10.40, said shell having been used by the State Road Department. Councilman E.A.Ely moved that communications be accepted and filed with clerk, motion seconded by Mayor- Councilman F.R.Renwick. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Councilman E.A.Ely advised members of the Town Council the the Cities Service was selling kerosene, gasoline, and lub- ricating oils , within the Town limits without license. Councilman E.A.Ely reported that the inspectors, accompanied by himself made an inspection on Monday September 10th and placed kerosene in barrels, tubs and open cisterns wherein the dengue fever mosquito might breed. NEW BUSINESS Mayor-Coericilman F.R.Renwick moved that the attached i budget for the ensuing fiscal year be - :ed, Motion seconded by Councilman E.A.Ely. No furhter business to come before the meeting motion was made by Mayor-Councilman F.R.Renwick seconded by Councilman E.A.Ely that meeting be adjourned.
