11-21-1934 - Regular I • IINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE V.I .A. HALL, NOVEMBER 21ST, A.D. ,1934. Meeting was called to order at 7: 35 P.M. , by Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely. ROLL CALL Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely Present Councilman H.P.Wilkinson Present Councilman C.D.Bartlett Present Clerk E.H.Lohman Present Attorney E.W.Gautier Present READING OF MINUTES Minutes of Special Meeting held November the 12th were read and approved on motion by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman C.D.Bartlett. COIJLti(TTI CATI ONS Clerk read a letter from the New Smyrna Chamber of Commerce inviting representation to the dedication of the new building January first. Motion was made by Councilman H.P. Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman C.D. Bartlett that letter be received and filed. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS The fo .owing bills were presented: New Sm rna. Hardware Compa4y, $1.00 for lock for Council Room. New Smyrn News , $4. 50<for 500 Official Ballots . E. H. Lohman, $1.00Zfor Postage Stamps for office. Approved by Councilman H. P. Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman C. D. Bartlett , Warrants #1550 to 1552 inclusive were issued for above. REPORT OF OFFICERS Clerk read list of Licenses he had collected and solicited. NEW BUSINESS Motion was made by Councilman C. D. -'?artlett that all Business Licenses- a moratorium on same be declared for the year and refund all money that had been collected. Voted "yes" by Bartlett and died for want of a second. Clerk read letter from Bonding Company relative to furnishing new bond for Clerk, asking for Financial Statement of yearly audit. Council as a body agreed to sign statement approving renewal . Motion was made by Councilman C. D. Bartlett , seconded by Councilman H. P. Wilkinson, to approve Hrs . E. H. Lohman as assistant to Clerk as Tax Collector, with no additional expense to the Town. Motion was made by Councilman C. D. Bartlett , seconded by Councilman H. P. Wilkinson , that T. A. 3wann be appointed as Town Marshall, to serve without regular salary, but to receive a fee of $2.00 for each arrest and conviction, and in addition that a reward of 2 .,QO_ for the arrest and conviction of person or persons guilty of larceny or breaking and entering. The minimum bond to be accepted for any arrest is hereby set at $10.00. This appointment effective immediately and to continue until further action of this body.
