MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOVflT OF EDGEWATER VOLUSIA COUNT', FLORIDA,
HELD INN THE V.I .A. HALT,, JANUARY 16TH, A.D. , 1935.
Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. , by Mayor-Councilman
E.A.Ely.

READING OF MINUTES
Minutes of Regular Meeting held. January 2nd were
approved as read on motion of Councilman H.P.Wilkinson,
seconded. by Councilman C.D.Bartlett.
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS
/ The following bills were present: lew Smyrna News,
$3.25‘ f or 200 tax statements . It was moved by Councilman
H.P.Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman C.D.Bartlett that above
bill be paid. Warrant #1576 was issued.
REPORT OF SPECIAL CON<DfTTEEE.A.Ely
Mayor-CounciLnan/reportec. that he had purchased 1000
feet of lumber from the mill on the DeLand road for bridge
work, and that J.J.Loftin had been instructed to haul this
lumber from the mill.
ORDINANCE
Ordinance No. 54 was introduced by Councilman H.P.
Wilkinson, seconded by Councilman C .D.Bartlett , for licensing
the sale of hard liquors , gin and alcohol, placing a license
fee of , 250 .00 per annum.
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely stated that a Mr. Potter
Called on him in regard to a street work project in Edgewater
with Federal Aid in reply to a letter written by him to Mr.
L .cDonough. Mr. Potter stated that he was satisfied that all
labor could be furnished, but that the cost of all surveying,
materials , truck hire , and rental of machines would have to
be borne by the Town

Mr. Pollitz called on Town Council to see if the Town
could not arrange with the City of New Smyrna to have their
line extended to supply electricity to the residents of Schmidt
Park, and stated that that it would require six or seven poles
to make this extension. Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely took the
position that it would be proper for Nr. Pollitz to get in contact
with New Smyrna and try to get them to put the line through to-

his property. He said that parties that would use lights were:
Mrs . Schmidt , Touhy, Pollitz, Mrs. Ludlow, Hilliard and Mason.
After discussion Mr. Pollitz agreed to furnish the poles needed ,
and the Town Council agreed to take the matter up with the City
of New Smyrna to see what action would be taken.
Marshall Swann turned in 45. 50 for license from Mr.
Guntharp , which concludes all occupational licenses due until
October 1st , 1935.
