HALL, MARCH 20TH. , A.D . ,1935. Meeting was called to order at 8: i P.M. , by Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely. ROLL CALL: Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely Present Councilman H.P.Wilkinson Present Councilman C.D.Bartlett Present Clerk E.H. Lohman Present Attorney G.O .Rasco Present READING OF MINUTES Minutes of Regular Meeting held. March 6th were read and approved on motion of Councilman H.P. ilkinson, seconded by Councilman C.D.Brtlett. COM.IUNICATIONS None. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS The follqWing bills were presented: Stewart and Stewart , Attorneys 40.004Expenses and Retainer Fee foridefending Town in Hill Dredging Company Suit; G. O. Rasco 45000 , final payment as Attorney in Hill Dredging Suit ; Permanent ,Improvement Warrants #94 and #95 were issued. G. O. Rasco , ;5.0.00(Final and Full Payment as Retainer Fees as Town. Attorney; E. H. Lohman 16.91c for Postage ,Tax Exemption Blanks and Money Order Fees. Warrants 1604 and 1605 were drawn on General Fund. On Motion of Councilman C.D.Bartlett seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson the above bills were ordered paid. NEW BUSINESS Councilman C.D.Bartlett suggested the removal of all dead trees on The Strand that had been killed by the pumping of spoilage. Motion by Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely, seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson that Councilman C.D.Bartlett be given permission to remove said dead trees without cost to the Town. Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely reported that Mr. Farnsworth had complained that alley-way in the rear of his property on park Avenue had grown up and needed cleaning. Motion by Councilman C.D.Bartlett , seconded by Councilman H.P.Wilkinson that street coMmissioner be instructed to clean out all streets and alleys of brush and weeds as deemed necessary for fire protection. A petition was presented to the council by Mr. A.R.Patch with signatures of 43 signers reauesting the Council to have removed moss and mistletoe from the shade trees on streets. Council took no action but will report on the cost of removal at next meeting. Mr. Hornsby, representing Quinn R. Barton, dealers in road scrapers , etc . , discussed with Council prices etc . , on road scrapers . Council took no action. Attorney G.O . Rasco' s contract as Attorney for the Town of Edgewater expired March the 20th at midnight A.D. 1935. It was Moved by Councilman C.D. Bartlett , seconded by Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely that no attorney be employed to represent the Town for two meetings , Councilman H.P. Wilkinson voting No. Carried. A motion was made by Councilman C.D. Bartlett , seconded by Mayor-Councilman E.A.Ely that Town Attorney G.O.Rasco withdraw from the Hill Dredging Company Suit. Mr. Rasco asked Councilman C .D.Bartlett the reason for not retaining him. Councilman Bartlett replied that only one Attorney was needed in this suit and in his opinion Attorney Stewart was able to handle this case. Rasco brought before the Council the question of defending the Wharton Suit , stating that he would continue to defend the suit for the Town until they elected or chose a General Counsel for the Town , stating that he would argue the motion now pending before the court for a fee of ($5.00 in the event that the case is set down for argument prior to the selection of an attorney, and in the event that another attorney was selected , he asked to be relieved of defending the suit at the time the Town Council selects the attorney for the ensuing year. Motion was made by Councilman H.P. Wilkinson, seconded by councilman C.D.Bartlett that Mr. Rasco' s proposition be accepted.
