MINUTED OF SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL AS BOARD OF
EQUALIZATION HELD IN THE V. I.A.HALL FRIDAY AUG.23rd1935 . MEETING
WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY THE MAYOR AND HE STATED THAT THE TOWN COUNCIL
WOULD SIT AS A •BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND HEAR CO'APLAINTS ON THR
ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR TOWN TAXES ON REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR
THE YEAR 1935

COMMUNCIATIONS;
A letter was read from L. :.Turner dated May 12th. 1935 from
Mt .Airy Ga. regarding the assessment of his lots on Park Place
that the Equalization board investigated and discussed said
assessment and the complaint made against the assessment and after
a comparrison of surrounding valuations , were of ;Ahe :Opinion that
said assessment as made was fair, equal and just, and that upon motion
of Councilman J.L.Bartlett , secondedby Mayor E.A.Ely said petition
complaining against said assessment was refused. Motion was voted
and duly carried.
The Clerk stating thit he had received no further
complains on the assessment roll, a motion wa.s made by Councilman
C.D.Bartlett seconded by Mayor E.A.ELY that the meeting of the
Town Council as a board of equalization adjourn. Motion was
carried. Adjourned at 8.30 P
