Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Town Council of
Edgewater, Volusia County, Fla. held in V.I.A. Hall Dec. 2, 1936.

The minutes of the regular meeting of Nov. 171
weeeread and upon motion by Councilman Adams seconded-by
Councilman Haughton were declared approved as read. Carried.

Councilman Adams moved that the Bills be paid as read,
seconded by Councilman Haughton and upon a vote the
motion as declared carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
Mayor C.D.Bartlett reported that the New Smyrna Fire Dept
Would extend the same courtesy they did the past year in
answering fire alarms in Edgewater.
A Discussion as to organizing a number of men to help
the New Smyrna Dept. in fighting fires in Edgewater was
postponed until the New Smyrna Fire Chief could be present.
The Clerk reported that arrangements had been completed
with New Smyrna to place an electric light in the P.O.
Lobby.
The Clerk' s Cash Statement was read for the period
October 1st to November 30th. Councilman Haughton
moved that the report be accepted and made a part of the
minutes, seconded by Councilman Adams, carried.
ORDINANCES.
Ordinance No.62 providing for building permits to be
obtained prior to the erection or repair of any building
in Edgewater was read and upon motion of Councilman Houghton
seconded by Councilman Adams,the said ordinance was passed
upon its first reading, carried.
Upon motion properly made,seconded and carried, the re-
quirement of the second reading of Ordinance #62 be waived
and that the Ordinance be put upon final passage. Upon
roll call for final passage the vote was as follows:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Upon motion made by Councilman Adams and seconded by
Councilman Haughton,the bid of Mr.Worden to repaint ten
small and two large road highway signs was accepted and the
work ordered done under the direction of Marshall T.A.Swann.
Carried.
It was voted that the Town Clerk be instructed to issue
a Coin Machine license to Mr.N.H.Hord, this action upon
advice of Attorney Herbert, Fuller,that Mr.Hord should be
granted this license,provided Mr.Hord exhibit the State
and County License permit issued prior to Nov.3, 1936 for
his machine. Moved by Councilman Haughton, seconded by
Councilman Adams, carried.
NEW BUSINESS.
It was moved by Councilman Adams,seconded by Councilman
Haughton,that the Town Clerk' s office hours be from 2 P.M.
to 4 P.M. Monday,Wednesday and Friday, in accordance with a
resolution fixing same and forming a part of these minutes.
Carried.
A resolution was introduced in reference to continuing a
resolution passed by Council Nov.21 , 1934,offering the
Marshall (quote) "A reward of 425.00 for the arrest and
conviction of person or persons guilty of larcency or
breaking and entering" , (end of quote) . Upon discussion
action was deferred until the next meeting when Town Attor-
ney Fuller would present a revised resolution.
A discussion as to the enforcement of speed limits on the
Dixie Highway resulted in the decision to leave the road
signs as at present,namely,25 miles per hour,and to arrest
when the speed exceeded 45 miles per hour.
As to speed of Buses,it was moved by Councilman Adams,
seconded by Councilman Haughton,that the Clerk be instructed
to write to the Florida Motor Lines and the Greyhound Lines
that they caution their drivers not to exceed the speed limtt
thru Edgewater, carried.
Councilman Haughton moved that Marshall Swann be paid a
reward of 425.00 each for the arrest and conviction of the
three persons convicted of stealing chickens, seconded by
Councilman Adams and upon vote declared carried.

Councilman Adams moved that the Town of Edgewater buy,
at a cost of 459.45,the State and County taxes and pay
the 1936 taxes,on the following property situated North
of the V. I.A.Hall,namely .
North 80' of lot 4 Q
All of lot 4 R
North 30' of lot 4 S
Being seconded by Councilman Haughton and put to a vote,
it was declared carried.
Cases of W.P.Blackburn,DeLand,Fla. and J.M.McKee on the
Municipal Court :Dec ket,brought up on account of incomplete
payments of theirs f ine s,were referred to Attorney Fuller
and Marshall Swann respectively.
A discussion on the enforcement of Fire Zone Ordinance
and the forming of a number of volunter firemen,was con-
tinued until the next meeting.
Councilman Haughton moved that we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Adams and upon vote declared
carried. Time 9:30 P.M.
