Minutes of Regular Meeting of the `T'pvm Council of EDGEWATER
Volusia County, Florida, held in V. I . A. Hall January 5, 1937.
Meeting called to order at 7: 55 P .M. by Mayor -Councilman
C. Bartlett.

Reading of Minutes:
The minutes of the meeting o2 December 15, 1936 were read. Mr.
Adams moved they be accepted a- read , seconded by Mr. Haughton
and upon vote the motion was carried.

Mr. Haughton moved that the bills be paid as read , seconded by
Mr. Adams. Upon vote declared carried.
Reports of Officers:
The clerks financial report for the monthe of December was read.
Mr. Adams moved it be accepted as read and made a part of these
minutes. Seconded by Mr. Haughton, upon vote declared carried.
Committee Reports:
Mr. Adams reported that he iiiad seen Mr. Battle of the State Planning
Board, in reference to the River Road Improvement and that Mr. Battle
was taking the matter up with the Jacksonville office.
Ordinances:
ci'uinance 1 o. 63 entitled "An Ordinance Prohibiting the Driving or
Operating of Motor Vehicles over the streets or highways of the
Town of Edgewater, Florida by a Person in an Intoxicated condition
or Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquors" , was read in full,
passed upon first reading, and upon motion of Councilman Adams ,
seconded. by Councilman Haughton , the requirement of reading upon
second reading. was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon
final passage. Upon motion by Councilman Adams seconded by
aughton , the ordinance was passed upon final passage ,
with the vote being as follows: Councilman, Bartlett , Yes
Councilman, Haughton, Yes
Councilman , Adams , Yes
New BUajness:
Councilman Adams reported that he took up with the F. E. C . Officials
about the use of their lots for playgrounds. They advised that

their fee for the use of the ground would be1.00 per month.
No action was taken.
A proposal from the idew Smyrna Abstract Co, for "Property Transfer
Service" was read and after discussion the Clerk was instructed to
findout the cost from January 1st , to the end of the fiscal year,
September 30th.
Mr. C. W. Rowsam, requested permission to cut down a tall tree on
Plaza Lane in front of his drive. Permission granted provided
stump was removed.
A request was made that Electric Light Pole be moved on corner of
Evergreen Ave. , and the Strand. Referred to the Jiayor and Marshall
for investigation.
The Clerk requested leave of absence for Jan. 19 , to 22nd, inclusive
to attend the Municipal Finance Officers Short Course at Camp
Roosevelt , Florida.
Mr. Adams moved that the Clerk be Granted leave of absence for Jan. 194
to 22nd inclusive and that Paul D. Leddin be appointed Clerk Protem
to serve for the meeting of Jan. 19th -and without pay. Seconded by
Mr. Haughton and upon vote declared carried.
There being no further business , Mr. riaughton moved that we do now
adjourn. Seconded. by Mr. Adams and upon voce uelcareu carried.
