01-19-1937 - Regular Minutes of Regular Meetingof the Town Council of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, held in V. I . A. Hail January 19 , 1937. Meeting called to order at 7:34 P . i. , the Mayor presiding. Roll Call: Mayor-Councilman C. D. Bartlett Present Councilman H. L. Haughton Present Councilman Ralph Adams Present Attorney Herbert Fuller Present Clerk(ProTem. )Paul D. Leddin Present Readin1; oi Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read , by motion of H. L. Haughton, seconded by Ralph Adams . Report of Officers; Clerk Walter C. Fuller submitted report on "Property Transfer Service" . It was moved by Ralph Adams , seconded by H. L. Haughton, that the clerk be instructed to engage the service of Mr. Lee on "Property Transfer" , for the period beginning with January 1, 1937 to September 30 , 1937, at a cost to the town of Eighteen and 75/100 Dollars. Unanimously carried. REPORT from Marshall Swann on "Telephone in Post Office Lobby" , was TABLED for furture consideration by motion of Ralph Adams , seconded by -i. L. haughton. Carried. APPLICATION for 1936 Homestead Tax Exemption Refun filed by Harriet .:a.cu:a,:t11 , was TABLED by motion of H. L. Haughton, seconded sy Ralph Adams. Carried. Ordinances: Ordinance No. 64, entitled "AN ORDINANCE DECLARING CERTAIN EXCESSIVE GROWTH OF GRASS , WEEDS AND NOXIOUS PLANTS A PUBLIC NUISANCE AND FIRE HAZARD KND PROVIDE FOR TIT1 REMOVAL THEREOF FROM CERTAIN LANDS WITHIN THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLQR_`)IA AND PROVIDING FOR SAID TOWN OF EDGEWATER TO REMOVE SAID EXCESSIVE GROWTH OF GRASS, WEEDS AND OTHER NOXIOUS PLANTS AND TO CHARGE AGAINST THE PROPERTY FROM WHICH SAID EXCESSIVE GROWTH OF GRASS AND WEEDS AND NOXIOUS PLANTS ARE REMOVED THE COST OF SUCH REMOVAL AND FOR THE CREATION OF A LIEN UPON SAID PROPERTY FOR THE COST OF SUCH REMOVAL. " Upon motion by Councilman Ralph Adams, seconded by H. L. Haughton, the Ordinance was passed upon its first reading. Upon motion by Councilman H. L. Naughton, seconded by Ralph Adams councilman, the requirement of reading the Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was put upon Final Passage. Passed upon Final Passage , the vote being as follows: Mayor-Councilman C. D. Bartlett Yes Councilman H. L. Haughton Yes Councilman Ralph Adams Yes Unfinished Business : Progress on `'Play Grounds" , reported by Councilman Ralph Adams. Motion made by Ralph Adams , seconded by H. L. Haughton , that the Clerk be authorized to pay the Town' s Note of Five Hundred and No/100 Dollars at the First Atlantic National Bank, when sufficient funds are available. .yr/ New Business: Russel A. Patch registered protest against the removal of electric street lamp on his corner lot , Ocean Ave. , and Fernald Street. A general discussion ensued , no action taken in the matter..
