04-20-1937 - Regular Ntaftir '41410' MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER,VOLUSIA COUNTY,.FLORIDA, held in V. I.A.Hall April 20, 193 7. Meeting called to order at 7:45 P.i . by Mayor Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Roll Call. Mayor Councilman C.D.Bartlett Present Councilman H.L.Haughton Present Councilman. Ralph Adams Present Attorney Allen. Smith Present Clerk Walter C.Fuller Present Reading of Minutes. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 6, 1937 were read and upon motion of Mr.Adams, seconded by Mr.Haughton, were approved as read. Carried. Communications. The following were read:from Florida League of Municipalities,dated April 13 , 1957. J.U.Gillespie,Attorney at Law,dated April 19, 1937 The following bills were presented. 2 153 New Smyrna Novelty Works,paint for V.I.A.Hall 15.55 2148 Joseph Hewitt Gas for tractor 10 gallons 2. )J 2147 T.A.Swann Telephone for period March 26 to April 26, 1937 2.76 2146 Paul Brewer Labor on lots,33 hrs. 6.60 2149 H.C.Colee Blacksmith work on Grader 1 .00 Mr.Adams moved that the bills be approved as read and that they be paid. Seconded by :Mr.Haughton and upon vote declared carried After a discussion relative to the progress of the lot cleaning,Mr.Adams moved that all refuse, such as tin cans, be gathered up and then hauled away,funds for this labor to be drawn from the Fines and Forfeitures Fund when work was com- pleted and approved by the Mayor. Mr.Haughton seconded the motion. Carried. New Business Upon motion made by Mr.Adams, seconded by Mr.Haughton the clerk was ordered to hold 4150. )0 of the Fines and For- feitures Fund in reserve for Street Work as ordered by Council. Carried. Mr.Adams moved that Mr.J.U.Gillespie be appointed as Attorney for the Town of Edgewater,to serve for the next year,beginning May 1 , 1937,with a compensation of 6100.00 as an annual retaining fee,plus an additional fee of (150.00 to be paid in four quarterly installments of ;`•°:7.547 each. Er. Haughton seconded the motion and upon vote declared carried, Mr.Haughton not voting. Motion by ?iir.Adams :That the Clerk be instructed to write 'essrs.S lith & Fuller a letter of appreciation and thanks for the work they have done and the services rendered during the past two years as Attorneys for the Town.
