The minutes of the regular meeting of Sept. 21st and those of the special meeting of Sept. 29th, 1937 , were read and upon motion made by Councilman Adams , seconded by Councilman Haughton, were approved as read. The Clerk read a " Clerks Cash Statement for the month of September, A Budget Statement for the same period and an Annual. Report of Income and Disbursements ` for the Fiscal Year- October 1, 1936 to September 30 , 1937. " Councilman Haughton moved that these reports be accepted and that thy be made apart of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Adams , and upon vote declared CARRIED. ORDINANCES . Ordinance No. 70. entitled " AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR ALL PROPERTY IN THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR A.D. 1937 ; PROVIDING WHEN SUCH TAXES SHALL BECOME DUE AND BECOME DELINQUENT r i Minutes of Meeting of Oct. 5th, 1937 continued. ORDINANCES . continued. AND BE SOLD FOR NON—PAY 3NT; AND PROVIDING FOR DISCOUNTS IF PAID BEFORE MARCH, 1st, 1938. " was read in full. Upon motion by Councilman Haughton, seconded by Councilman Adams , the Ordinance was passed upon its first reading. Councilman Adams moved that the requirement of reading the Ordinance upon second reading be waived, and that the Ordinance be put upon final Passage. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and upon vote declared CARRIED. Passed upon Final Passage , the vote of the Council being as follows ; Mayor Councilman C .D.Bartlett Yes. Councilman H.L.Haughton Yes. Councilman Ralph Adams Yes. Ordinance Np. 71 entitled " AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED BY THE TOWN OF EDGE'WIATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL. YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1937 , AND ENDING SEPTE'eTBER 30 , 1933, TO THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE, T0+'TR``T BUDGET. " was read in full. Upon motion by Councilman Adams , seconded by Councilman Haughton, the Ordinance was passed upon its first reading. Upon motion by Councilman Haughton, seconded by Councilman Adams , the requirement of reading the Ordinance upon second reading was waived , and the ordinance was put upon final Passage, the vote of the Council being as follows; Mayor Councilman C .D.Bartlett Yes. Councilman H.L.Haughton Yea. Councilman Ralph Adams Yes . NEW BUSINESS . Councilman Haughton moved that the Clerk advise the New Smyrna Abstract Company to supply the Town with their"Property Transfer Service" for the Year Octmber 1, 1937 , to September 30 , 1938 at a cost of ;; 25.00. Seconded by Councilman Adams and upon vote declared CARRIED. Upon motion duly:aade , seconded, and upon vote declared carried the Clerk was instructed to post notice that he last day for receiving petitions of candidates for the offices of Town Cot4ilman and Town Clerkwould be Oct .12 and that Council would meet at 7:30 P .M. on Oct. 12th, 1937 to receive such petitions. Copy of notice posted is attached and forms a part of tsese minutes . • The Clerk having presented to the Town Council the complete Tax Assessors Roll of the Town of Edgewater for the year 1937 , duly certified and consisting of Pages 1 to 32 inclusive , It was thereon moved by Councilman Adams , seconded by Councilman Haughton, that the said Tax Assessment Roll be confirmed and approved and that the Tax Collector proceed to collect out of the Real and Personal Property shown thereon, the amount of the Taxes shown thereon as provided by the Laws of the State of Florida and the Ordinances of the Town of Edgewater. Upon vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Adams moved , That Council Appoint. Itself a Street Committee to supervise the ';aintaince of the streets of the Town with the authority to provide for urgent and necessary repairs , reporting such repairs to the next subsequent meeting of Council with the exception that petty expenditures up o ;:5.00 be taken care of as hereto before. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and upon vote declared CARRI10, Councilman Adams moved that Penland and Robertson C .P_.A. be employed to audit the Towns Books for the Fiscal Year Oct . 1 1936 to Sept.30 , 1937 at a cost of $60.00. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote declared CARRIMI Councilman Adams moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 9:15 P .M.
