HELD IN V. I . A. HALL ON JANUARY 18, 1938.
Ieeting was called to order at 7:43 P .M.. by Mayor Councilman H.L.Haughton.

the minutes of the regular meeting of January 4th, 1938 were read
and upon motion made by Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman
Adams , were approved as read. CARRIED.

Councilman Adams moved that the Bills be accepted as read and that they
be paid, seconded by Councilman Bartlett, and by vote Declared CARRIED.

ORDINANCES .
Ordinance No:. 74 Entitled it AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THR TOWN CLERK
OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, TO AD 1INISTER OATHS IN CERTAIN CASES ."
was read in full upon its first reading.
Councilman ?.dams moved that Ordinance No. 74 as read be passed upon
its first reading, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared
unanimously Carried.
It was duly moved by Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman Adams
that the requirement of reading this Ordinance upon second reading be
waived and that this Ordinance be ordered put upon final passage. Upon votlb
this motion was declared unanimously Carried.
Passed upon Final Passage , the vote of the Council being as follows ;

U1` FINISHED BUSINESS.
Councilman Adams Loved that Mr. Volbending be given permission to
remove certain Pine Trees on Pine Bluff Street and Park Place which now
constitute a PirebHazzard, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote
declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Park Ave. flow well basin be repaired
and that a new valve , a 3" tile drain be installed and the presentbottle
filling pipe be repaired. Seconded by Councilman Adams and by vote declared
CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS .
In connection with the Cleaning of DIK. .00D AVE. , Mr. Gillespie read
'telegrams and a letter from Er. P.B .Dick protesting this action on the part
of the Town. Attorney George I . Fullerton then appeared before Council
on behalf of Mr. Dick. He requested of Council the relocation of Dixwood
Ave. , the replating and division of the Property in order to give larger-
sized lots. Council agreed to view the property. .r. Gillespie was
instructed to write _Ar. Dick that Council would view the property and that
he would be advised later of their action.
A letter from the City of New Smyrna Beach in reference to a Franchise
to construct, own and, operate and maintain in the Town of Edgewater,
Florida,Power, transmission and distribution lines for the sale and dis-
tribution of electricity for light , power and fuel, was read , together
with a form of ordinance_ granting such a Franchise.
Councilman Adams Moved. thatMayor Haughton confer with Mayor Swppe of
New Smyrna Beach in reference to their letter of Jan. 15th, 1938 request-
ing this Franchise. Seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared
CARRIED,:
Councilman Adams moved that the the Clerk be authorized to pay for the
refinishing of the Town's revolver. Duly seconded by Councilman Bartlett
and declared CARRIED.
"A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THAT ALL CHECKS OR WARRANTS DRAWN ON THE
DELIN UENT TAX FUND ACCOUNT SHALL BE SIGNED BY THE TOWN CLERK OF THE
TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND AUTHORIZING THE OFFICIAL DESPOSITORY OF
SAID TOWN TO HONOR ALL CHECKS OR WARRANTS SO DRAWN." was read in full.
Councilman Bartlett moved the adoption of the Resolution, seco .ed by
Councilman Adams and adopted the vote of Council being as follows;

Councilman Ralph Adams YES.
Councilman C.D.Bartlett YES.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by
Councilman Adams and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 9 :15 P.M.
