TOWN CLERK.
Edgewater, Florida,
July 16, 1938.

e
July 13 , 1938.
To the Town Council of
the Town of Edgewater, Florida.
Gentlemen;
In complaisance with your request of ,uay 4, 1938, a list
of delinquent tax properties has been prepared and is handed you
herewith.
There are 301 items listed which can be compared to 831
items which composed the 1937 Tax Roll.. Some of these items conyain
as many as 10 lots, others acreage and others only a single lot.
A comparrison of this delinquent tax list and the 1937
Tax Roll shows that 66 % of the items listed on the 1937 Tax Roll
are paying the taxes assessed and therefore bearing the cost of
the Town's Budget.
It was not thought necessary at this time to list all
the amounts of Taxes due for the various years on all of these 3o1
items and you will therefore note that only the first 25 items
have been completed as to amounts of taxes due. These completed
figures indicate that some properties have been delinquent since.
1926 , while a large. part of the otherssince 1933.
A large percentage of this list are unimproved properties.
There are however two business properties, one of which has an
accumulation of taxes( without interest or costs) amounting to
over m220.00.covering a period of five years. In Highland Shores
Sub. there are 226 lots lots delinquent out of 371 lots in the
sub-divison. Totem Park Sub. located at the South end of the
Town and between the Strand and t.,e Highway has 129 lots delinquent
out of 200 lots in the sub-divison. Fernald and Chadwick Replat
of Hawks Park Land Co. Sub. and bounded on North by Park Ave.
South by Palmway, East by Strand and •rest by Ridgewood Ave. has
101 lots in the sub-divison 12 of which are delinquent. One entire
sub-divison at the `Vest end of Park Ave. is delinquent with the
owner "unknown".
An analysis of the 1937 Tax Roll shows that,
2 of the total Assessed Valuation is Delinquent.
19% of the total Assessed Valuation is Exempt.
This leaves 61% of the total Assessed Valuation paying their taxes.
There are many delinquent pieces of property which have
doubtful titles due to frequent changes,,due_ tosettling of Estates,
of owners and which titles could be cleared up by a Tax Foreclosure
proceeding. These properties wonid then be desirable lands.
Hence these facts are submitted to bring to your attention
that any action which can be taken to put these delinquent propertts
back on the Tax Roll is only just and equitable to those Properties
which are now paying Taxes .
Respectfully Submitted.

Town Clerk.
