Swann Present READING OF MINUTES The minutes of the meeting of August 16, 1938 were read and upon motion made by Councilman Adams, seconded by Councilman Haughton, were accepted as read. REPORTS OF OFFICERS The Clerk read his Cash Statement and a report on Budget Appropriations for the Period August 1, 1938 to August 31, 1A38 and Councilman Adams moved that these reports be approved and that they be made a part of these minutes. This motion was seconded by Councilman Haughton and upon vote Declared CARRIED. The Marshall reported and made recommendations on the appointment of firemen. COMMUNICATIONS . The following commucations were read by the Clerk, W. M. Parker, Director of the State Road Department of Florida, on Street Mileages dated August 25, 1938 and Robert L. Riggs ,Director of East Volusia County Anti-Mosquito District, dated August 17 , 1938. NEW BUSINESS A Resolution entitled " A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR ALL NECESSARY AND ORDINARY EXPENSES AND SPECIAL AND EXTRAORDINARY EXPENSES FOR TEE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR BEGIN- NING OCTOBER let , A. D. 1938 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30th, A. D. 1939." , was read in full by the Clerk, whereupon Councilman Adams moved the adoption of the Resolution, seconded by Councilman Haughton and passed the vote of the Council being as follows: Mayor Councilman H. L. Haughton Yes Councilman Ralph Adams Yes Councilman C. D. Bartlett Absent A copy of this resolution is attached and forms a part of these minutes . Mr. Adams moved that thirty-five names in accordance with the attached list and which list forms a part of these minutes, be stricken from the registration list of qualified voters of the Town of Edgewater, Florida and that the list of the names so stricken be posted by the Town Clerk at four public places in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, ontof which places shall be at the frost of the V. I . A. Hall in said Town. This motion was seconded by Mr. Haughton and upon vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Adams moved that T. A. Swann be appointed Fire Chief and A. M. Gibson be appointed Assistant Fire Chief and the following be approved as volunteer firemen or callmen: H.G. Smith Ned _Massey H. M. Harbin,Sr. H. M. Harbin,Jr. James Hunter Perry Hunter Robert Morrison C. T. King,Jr. Bud Hay Iva Graham Kay Loftin R. E. Fuller. This motion was seconded by Mr. Haughton and upon vote declared. C .:RI ED. It was rei;orted that last year the annual cleanup was done too early and that the amountappropriated in the budget this year for that purpose had not been expended and that it would not be wise to do the work in the current fiscal year, whereupon Councilman Adams moved that , that part of the unexpended balance in the street fund necessary for the annual clean- up be carfied over into next years fund and applied for that purpose when it would be found proper for the annual cleanup work to be done. This motion was seconded by Councilman Haughton and upon vote declared CARRIED. Marshall Swann by unanimous consent . was authorized to have the Towns mowing machine repaired. By unanimous consent Council authorized the Clerk to spend not more than 17.00 to purchase a loose leaf binder and sheets for a cash journal.
