HALL ON OCTOBER 20 , 1938 TO RECEIVE PETITIONS OF CANDIDATEA FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN AND TOWN CLERK. Meeting called to order at 7:34 P. M. by Mayor Councilman H. L. Haughton ROLL CALL Mayor Councilman H. L. Haughton Present Councilman Ralph Adams Present Councilman C. D. Bartlett Absent Clerk Walter C . Fuller Present Attorney J'._ U. Gillispie Present Marshall T. A. Swann Present. The call for the meeting was read as follows: "NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, WILL MEET AT THE V.I .A. HALL IN SAID TOWN ON THURSDAY, THE 20th DAY OF OCTOBER, A. D. 1938, AT 7:30. P. M. OF SAID DAY, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING PETITIONS OF CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICES OF TOWN COUNCILMAN AND TOWN CLERK. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT SAID 20th DAY OF OCTOBER, 1938, WILL BE THE LAST DAY UPON WHICH PETITIONS TO HAVE CANDIDATES' NAMES PRINTED ON THE BALLOT AT THE GENERAL ELECTION IN SAID TOWN IN NOVEMBER, 1938, WILL BE RECEIVED. THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO ACTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF SAID TOWN AT ITS MEETING HELD OCTOBER 4th, 1938, AND PURSUANT TO THE GENERAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA. " Whereupon the Clerk then announced that the petitions had been filed for Horace King as a Candidate for the office of Town Councilmantoserve for a term of three years and a petition to place the name of Walter C. Fuller on the ballot for the office of Town Clerk to serve for one year. Both of these petitions on being checked were found to have more ts han 25 electors signatures on each petition and that both petitions were properly sworn to as to the signatures. Both petitions were also signed by the two Candidates as to their qualifications and acceptance of such candidacy. It was duly .:owed by Councilman Ad-ma , seconded by Councilman Haughton, the the petition be accepted and the name of Horace King be placed on the ballot. It was unanimously carried. It was duly moved by Councilman Adams , seconded by Councilman Haughton, that the petition be accepted and the name of Walter C. Fuller be placed on the Ballot. It was unanimously carried. Councilman Adams moved that the Town Clerk be instructed to have 500 ballots and 200 sample ballots printed for the general Election to be held November 8th, 1938 , with names of the respective candidates printed thereon whose petitions have been accepted at this meeting, seconded by Councilman Houghton and upon vote declared carried.
