Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Councilman Ralph. Adams. ROLL CALL. Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. Present. Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Present. Councilman Horace King. Present. Clerk Walter C.Fuller. Present. Attorney J.U.Gillespie.Present. Marshall. T .A.Swann. Present . READING OF MINUTES . The minutes of the meeting of November 16. , 1938 were read and upon motion made by Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Adams , these minutes were approved as read. By vote the motion was declared CARRIED. At this time Councilman)). Bartlett - arrived and was counted present. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS . Cash, $ 2.88 New Smyrna News , Printing Drivers Licenses . $ 4.75 After a prolonged discussion by Councilman Bartlettupon matters pertaining to the Mayors Court, Councilman Bartlet moved that the bills be paid as read and made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman King, and upon vote declared CARRIED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS . The Clerk read .his Cash Statement and a Statement of Budget Appropriations for the period October 30 , 1938 to November 30 , 1938 ;; Councilman Bartlett moved - that these . reports be accepted as read as a correct record and that they be made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman King, and by vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk reported that the Weed Burner ordered had been received and that it had been turned over to the Marshall. Attorney Gillespie reported that he had written to Llr. Bivings but had not received any reply. Also that he had writtell U.S .Senators in reference to the Florida Peace Officers letter refered to him at the last meeting of Council. Their replies had been favorable to the support of the project. COMTUNI CATI ONS . Letters were read from iew Smyrna Post No. 17 American Legion of Nov. 30th State Road Dept, of Florida of Nov. 26th Florida Industrial Commission of Nov. 18th. Pan American Exposition of Nov. 18th. The Clerk reported requests from Mrs. Anne C.Ellwanger for the Cleaning of the lots West of her property on Park Ave. , also a request from Mr. Harry Humphreys for a refund on a Wine and Beer License issued to him. ■s UNFINISHED BUSINESS . The matter of License No. 2 .W-B. issued to Harry Humphreys was brought up and it was found that this license was of a type which is transfer- able and therefore it was moved by Councilman Bttlett, seconded by Councilman King, that said license be returned to Mr. J.3 .Bates the owner of it and that the amount of 415.25 be refunded to Er. J.S .Bates upon return by him to the Town Clerk of License No. W-B 6 which had been subsequently issued to Mr. Bates and that license No. 4r-B 6 be than cancelled by the Clerk. Upon vote this motion was declared CARRIED. The letter of Nov. 18th from the Florida Industrial Commission was refered to Attorney Gillespie to answer, .while that from the State High- way Dept.dated Nov. 26th Was refered to the Clerk to give the information as to the Limits of the Town of Edgewater. NEW BUSINESS . Councilman Bartlett moved that the Clerk assisted by the Marshall place an order for two drums of white kerosene same to be used in the weed burner just purchased , the cost not to exceed 9g' per gallon, seconded by Councilman King and upon vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk brought to Council' s attention the necessity of some Fire protection at the Town Hall and suggested that a fire extinguisher be bought for this purpose. After a discussion Clerk Fuller and Marshall Swann were appointed a Committee to obtain information and prices for two extinguishers , one for the Hall and one to be kept by the Marshall for use in extinguising oil or gasoline fires. This committee to report at the next meeting of Council. Councilman Bartlett moved that the Clerk be authorized to purchase a suitable binder to be used for a Plat Book and also certified copies of all subdivisons in Edgewater from the County Engineer and Clerk of the Circuit Court, seconded by Councilman King and by vote declared CARRIED . The matter of foreclosure proceedings on Delinquent Properties was dis- cussed,particularly the selection of those properties to be included, whereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that Attorney Gillespie be Authorized to foreclose on such properties as selected by a committee of three to be appointed by Mayor Adams , seconded by Councilman King, and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED . MAYOR Adams appointed to serve on this committee , Councilman Bartlett, Attorney Gillespie and ClerkFuller.
