12-20-1938 - Regular 'N111/ sNINO; REGULAR MEETING OP THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE V.I .A. HALT, ON DECEMBER 20 , 1938. Meeting called to order at 7:34 P.m. by Vice Mayor C .D.Bartlett. ROLL CALL. Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. Absent. Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Present. Councilman Horace King. Present. Clerk. Walter C .Fuller. Present . Attorney. J.U.Gillespie. Present . Ma.rsh7ll. T .A.Swann. Present. READING OF MINUTES . The minutes of the meeting of December 6 , 1938 were read and upon motion made by Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Bartlett , were accepted as read. By vote the motion was declared CARRIED. BILIS AND ACCOUNTS . Oil 3.40 Councilman King moved that the bills be accepted as read , be paid and made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Bartlett, and by vote declared CARRIED. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES . The Committee on Delinquent Tax Properties reported that they had made a selection of and listed properties located on the River Front and on the Highway. This list had added to it such properties in other locations as belonged to the same owners as those listed on the Highway and River Front. They also advised that they would meet with Mt. 'Frank Lee of the New Smyrna Abstract Company to arrange for obtaining information as to recorded Liens and Judgements against the Properties listed, as this information was necessary for the Town Attorney to file Suit. The question of price for this work was to be settled at this conference. The report was accepted and made a -part of these minutes. The Committee on Fire Extinguishers for the Hall and for the use of t the Fire Department reported progress and asked that they be given until the next meeting of Council to complete their report, By unamious consent this was granted. • ♦ I. Aft Meeting of December 20 , 1938. NEW BUSI1ESS. Mr. Arthur G.Merrill was given the privilege of the floor and addressed Council as to the matter of opening up and providing for a street to provide access to the four houses being built on the Colby and Jepson Sub-division South of Merrimac Ave. The recorded Plat shows a 25' street South from Ilerrimac Ave. approximately 120' thence East 20' wide to the East Line of the Sub-division. This Plat did not show any accept- ance by Council and the Clerk reported that he had not found any record of the acceptance by Council of this Plat in a search of the minutes of Council covering a period prior to and subsequent to the date this Plat was recorded. By unamious consent Council agreed to shell the Street if the Property Owners mould have the street surveyed, cleared and graded. After some considerable discussion relative to Street Signs , it was moved by Councilman King that the Marshall be instructed to fix up, replace and repair such street signs as are in need of replacment, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. Town Attorney J.U.Gillespie was requested to check the 'Town Ordinances to ascertain if they provided for and made it necessary that all vehicles stop before coming from the side streets on to the Highway. The report covering this subject to include such changes as will be necessary to made effective the stop signs now placed on the side streets. Councilman King moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Bartlett , and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 8:22 P.M.
